Just a few weeks ago, the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was released thanks to the efforts of hacker pod2g. Sadly for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users, it only supported A4 iDevices (iPhone 4, iPad 1 etc). Well pod2g has posted another video (made by Chronic dev team member Dustin Howett) of a jailbroken iPhone 4S rebooting without having to tether to a computer. While no date has been given of its public release, pod2g did say “Only a few to wait now”. Could mean a few days or maybe even weeks, but at least we now know that the wait shouldn’t be that much longer.
Update: The untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is now available for Windows and Mac, courtesy of the Jailbreak toolkit Absinthe.
