Chocolatier in Review – Sweet App Goodness
Finally, another Time Management game to ease my new addiction…Phew, I feel better! Actually, Chocolatier, brought to us by PlayFirst is actually so much more than that. Sure, there is the time management aspect in terms of efficiently using your time (in this case travel), but at heart, it’s more of a tycoon/economic type game.
Circuit Defenders in Review – Anti-Virus With a Twist… or Tower
It’s practically a right of passage for anyone that has ever owned a computer (unless you’re so cool that you’ve only ever had a Mac). One day you start to notice that your computer is running a lot slower than it used to. No matter how few programs you’re running, or how much disk space you free up, you swear there’s something going on in the computer. Oh yeah, the constant porn pop-ups are also a sign that something is definitely not right. So you download, buy, steal, or otherwise acquire an antivirus program, install it, and let it work its magic… but what exactly is it doing? The developers at Sector3 have an idea of what’s going on in there, and they made it into a game: Circuit Defenders.
Supermarket Mania – Mayhem at the Supermarket!
Your local time management expert, Dave P. reporting for duty! You guessed it, I’m hard at work (or hardly working, depending on how you look at it) playing another time management game. Boy, I’m getting good at these!
For all those that follow my reviews religiously (big shout out to my wife), you’ll know that I’ve already reviewed a few time management games. The current game in review is Supermarket Mania by G5
Sentinel in Review – TD goes Sci-Fi!
One of the things I love about the app store is the sheer amount of choice. Don’t get me wrong, some days I hate it as well also for that very same reason. But, when you like a specific genre, such as TD games for example, it’s a nice place to be able to visit. Sentinel, by Origin8 is the latest addition to the TD bunch. I won’t go into explaining TD games as it has already been done here at Touchmyapps in several reviews, but Sentinel brings in an element of science fiction and nice looking graphics which does add a fresh vibe.
Orions: Legends of Wizards in Review – A card game of legendary proportions
I’ll be honest. I’ve never played card games on computers or consoles. Sure, I’ve played hearts on my PC, but that’s about it. I used to play Hearts, Euchre and Crazy Eights when I was younger, but I really haven’t played any card games since then.
After playing Orions: Legends of Wizards, I’m left wondering why I haven’t played card games in such a long time! I’ve spent a few sleepless nights and days at work dreaming about what my next move and/or strategy should be for my next battle. That my friends, is when you know you’re playing a great game.
Reign of Swords in Review – Forsooth Tis Fun
There’s something all pervasive about the Medieval Times that influences RPG and strategy games. You can have a game set in the year 3054 and still find armor clad heroes and heroines with swords. Even mystical lands filled with dwarves, orcs, and elves find themselves subject to the restraints of this swords and sorcery treatment. Not deviating from this formula, Punch Entertainment’s Reign of Swords fits squarely with its brethren. Yet, for an App Store that is still seeking to fill out its genre coffers, this game is a welcome addition.
Westward in Review – Worth riding off into the sunset with?
There’s nothing quite like coming to a new world or city, to find out it hasn’t been developed yet. Welcome to Westward pardner! You are among the first settlers in the West!! While this may be a port of a PC game from a few years back, it’s still a whole lot of fun! Most importantly, it really is implemented very well on the iDevice thanks to its touch screen. But we’ll get to that in a bit…
The Creeps in Review: Reasons 4 Another TD Game
Given the plethora of TD games (Tower Defense to the uninitiated) currently available through the App Store, there can be considerable hesitation in the purchase of a new game within this genre. In the midst of some original and unoriginal ideas, The Creeps is more than able to set itself apart from some of its more mundane brethren.
7 Cities TD in Review – A Peg-Leg up on the competition
Neptune Studios’ first release, 7 Cities TD is a new kid on the crowded tower defense block and it brings an arsenal of innovations with it. 7 Cities does not reinvent the ballista but does breathe refinement into a genre that is losing it on the iPhone.
