With the announcement that Final Fantasy IV will be coming soon to iOS, Square Enix has dropped prices on their beloved FF games on the App Store. This marks the first time this year they’ve been discounted:
Today, you can relive the heady days of the late 1980’s, but in 1990’s style: Square Enix have released both FINAL FANTASY I & II today at the App Store. Both are masked in glorious Super Famicom-style colour and iPhone-tailored resolution. FINAL FANTASY sports ‘bonus dungeons’ from Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time editions of the game while FINAL FANTASY II hacks along with the bonus dungeons from Soul of Rebirth and the Arcane Labyrinth editions of the game. Of course, this will probably be the biggest news for Anime RPG lovers till the next Final Fantasy debuts on the iPhone. Feel free to discuss the release of FINAL FANTASY I & II in our forums!
Piccies, press and video (courtesy AppBank) after the gap:
Nothing can stop the juggernaut that is Final Fantasy. It is the RPG most perched on the top rung of anime RPG fans’ list of favourites. Not only does it play cute, it plays with incredible stories which laugh at the best creations of its rivals. Thankfully, we have a lot to look forward to as both Final Fantasy I and II are headed to the iDevice. Shall we sing collective fanfare now, or wait till after dindin? I am of the opinion that even Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars may find a shady spot to rest in till the Final Fantasy news cools down. UPDATE: FINAL FANTASY I & II have been released!
Let’s hope the legendary Square Enix outdoes itself.
More piccies after the gap:
Square Enix, best known for their role playing titles in Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, have jumped on the iPhone Tower Defense bandwagon and released a Defense title of their own. Crystal Defenders is unique in that rather than building defensive tower structures around a map, you deploy jobs found in the popular Final Fantasy Tactics A2 game(Nintendo DS). Available classes include Dragoons, Black Mages, Theives, Berserkers and plenty more to choose from. Fans of the Tactics series and any defense game may want to give this a go. Now available at the App Store for $7.99. A Lite version is also available for players to test out the first 20 waves from one of four beginners’ maps.
