Rovio’s next big hit has arrived and there are no birds in sight. Rather, the misunderstood pigs from the Angry Birds franchise star in this innovative puzzle game - Bad Piggies.
The Bad Piggies are after the eggs again — but as usual, nothing is going according to plan! Can you create the ultimate flying machine and steer them safely to their destination? Those tricky pigs have a few objects they can use, but they need your help to turn these into the perfect transportation!
Rovio has released the first gameplay trailer of Bad Piggies, their next mobile offering starring not those iconic birds, but the adorable love ’em or hate ’em pigs. As we all know, Angry Birds is all about destruction; Bad Piggies, however, requires players to build stuff. According to Yahoo Games!:
Bad Piggies takes a page from game maker Rovio’s other recent hit, Amazing Alex, by letting players build curious contraptions for the pigs as they set out to steal more of those delicious eggs. You’ll craft all sorts of shoddy vehicles, from rickety flying machines to creaky jalopies, and then steer your hunk of junk through winding courses as you try to “three-star” the levels.
Just when you thought you were done with Angry Birds on your iPhone/iPod Touch, Rovio keeps finding ways of sucking you right back in. With an update that got pushed through this morning, the first in the bird-slinging franchise has received 15 new levels in the tropical theme that was introduced in the previous update. In addition, the game now includes the use of power ups, which were first introduced in the Facebook version. Four have initially been brought over and they include:
With a billion Angry Birds downloads under Rovio Entertainment’s belt, the Finnish developer has released their first non-bird-slinging game on the App Store: Amazing Alex. Sure enough, it’s another physics puzzler, but this time with an Incredible Machine-style twist.
Meet Amazing Alex! This whiz kid has a boundless imagination and a houseful of fun toys that can turn anything into an adventure!
From cleaning up his room to battling cardboard robots in his backyard, Alex creates amazing chain reactions to get the job done with the maximum amount of fun! Now he has some challenges for you — and he wants to see the most creative solutions YOU can create!
Amazing Alex features 100 challenging levels across 4 locations and you can bet Rovio will be providing free updates in the future with even more levels. The iPhone version of the game goes for $0.99, while the HD version for the iPad sells for $2.99. Check out the launch trailer after the break.
Rovio has just announced that Angry Birds has reached the 1 billion mark for downloads – this includes all 4 games across multiple platforms: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio and Angry Birds Space.
Angry Birds games have now been downloaded more than a billion times – THANK YOU to all of our incredible fans! This is only the beginning of our story, keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up next from Rovio!
A little over a week ago, Angry Birds Space became the fastest growing mobile game as it hit 50 million downloads in only 35 days. And to put the 1 billion into perpective, the Apple App Store with its 600,000+ apps reached 25 billion downloads back in March. Despite the fact that it does include the Windows, Mac, Android and other platforms, that’s still 4 games with 1/25 of all iOS downloads! Check out the Angry Birds 1 billion downloads video after the break.
After only 3 days of release, Angry Birds Space can officially be deemed a major hit. Through Twitter, Rovio announced that the latest space-themed Angry Birds game saw 10 million downloads over its initial launch weekend.
10 million Angry Birds Space downloads in less than 3 days! Thanks to our fans, stay tuned for more! #angrybirdsspace
What’s not known at this time is the breakdown between the different platforms, though its probably safe to assume that a large chunk of the downloads are from Android users (it’s free on Google Play, unlike iOS App Store). And with all the hype and publicity surrounding Angry Birds Space, don’t be surprised if the game surpasses the 100 million mark within a few weeks time.
Houston, we have liftoff. Angry Birds, the uber-lucrative gaming property for Rovio (it’s been downloaded over 700 million times across various mobile platforms), will soon be embarking on a journey that’ll take the beloved cast into outer space. From Rovio’s blog:
Angry Birds Space is a completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love — plus some surprises!
According to Yahoo! Games, Rovio has teamed up with NASA and National Geographic to be their ‘launch partners’ when the game officially releases on March 22nd. With the fourth major installment in the franchise (the last being Angry Birds Rio), Space will let fans sling birds on completely new planets, where there’ll be new gameplay elements like zero gravity, slow-motion trajections, and “lightspeed” destruction. And as part of a coordinated launch effort, Rovio will be simultaneously releasing the mobile game along with other Angry Birds Space offerings in animation, retail and publishing. More details on the game will be unveiled in early March, but in the meantime, you can check out the teaser website and watch the brief trailer below.
