Air Video – Watch your videos anywhere! in Review – This is what AirPlay grew out of…

Before I started writing for TMA, what I mostly used my iDevice during those hour long commutes was watching videos. Having a couple of hours a day to catch up on my favourite TV series and movies was certainly a much better alternative than staring at those poor sods sitting across from me. But one of the problems I constantly bumped into was content – converting videos was both a hassle and required a lot of laptop time and additional space. And let’s not forget that I still had to remember to upload the video files onto on my iPhone afterwards. If I only had Air Video then…

Cut The Rope in review – What’s An Angry Bird?

If you haven’t heard by now, Cut the Rope is the Angry Birds killer.  After having spent some time with it, I can begin to see where they might make that claim.  Of course it’s a completely different style of gameplay than Angry Birds, but from my point of view it’s a bit more accessible from a difficulty standpoint.  Besides, how can you not love Om Nom?  Will it’s dethroning of the champion be permanent?  I’m not sure, but in the mean time I’m just going to enjoy it for what it is – an incredibly fun physics based puzzler with an adorable protagonist.

Pix’n Love Rush in Review – Retro Gaming Done Right

Pix’n Love Rush is a splendidly fun retro game published by Bulkypix, who is also responsible for many other iPhone games, the most notable being the critically acclaimed Saving Private Sheep (TMA Review). Pix’n Love Rush is officially in the action/adventure genre, but I find it to be more of a stripped-down platformer. In the game, you play as a pixelated creature (a cat?) whose sole mission is to score points and buy cake. Let’s take a look at why this “run & jump” game is one of the more addictive games on the device.

Delivery Status Touch In Review – Package Tracking Made Perfectly Pleasant!

I’ve been doing a lot of buying and selling online lately and one of things that’s alway been a pain is keeping track of the shipments. I’ve even tried some apps before to help with the tracking, but they either didn’t provide enough details or didn’t quite have all the shipping services I needed. Then I found Delivery Status Touch from JuneCloud, a package tracker that’s beautifully designed with support for a host of delivery services.

Time Crisis 2nd Strike in Review – Shoot, Reload, Repeat

I’m not a big fan of first person shooters, but I do like the occasional action game, so options like the Time Crisis series fit the bill nicely. The iDevice is the perfect portable platform for such games as well, since the touch screen does a decent job of simulating the light gun control. FPS purists will most likely cringe at this game since they don’t get the control they think they need, but for people like me who need a bit more structured chaos, TIME CRISIS 2ND STRIKE works perfectly.

Supermarket Management HD in Review – discounting your free time

I’m not sure if I should feel so weak in the knees every time I turn on Supermarket Management HD, but golly I do. Time management games can be fun, but when they are made with as perfect a rhythm and the cutest of graphics as SMHDis , they are the sweetest of high school romances. What follows is a true love story.

Slideshot 2 In Review – Puzzle perfection!

I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll probably say it at least a thousand times again. I love puzzle games. Read on to see how the puzzle pieces fit.

Touch’n Go: Slice it! – Geometric challenge!

I can see why my wife was completely addicted to this puzzler. With its graffiti graphics and cute music, Slice It! may look like a quick little game, but it ain’t. It’s a cleverly disguised geometric puzzler that can tickle your brain for hours. Your mission? Divide shapes into equal parts in order to pass to the next level. Currently, there are 40 levels with more promised from Com2uS in the near future.

Slice It! Com2uS Inc., Slice It!, 14.30MB – $0.99

All-In-1 Alarm Clock In Review – Replace That Clunky $10 Clock With Your Own $600 Jesus Tablet Clock!

I read recently that with smartphones now having such dynamic and reliable alarm clocks, the standard bedside clock is on the way to extinction. Well here to put another nail in that coffin is All-In-1 Alarm Clock, a pretty damn good alarm clock app by developers rockiphone.com.

Zombie Escape in Review – Flight Control, please advise… zombies everywhere!

The line-drawing game genre has exploded since Flight Control (TMA Review) came out. We’ve seen almost everything, from downright clones such as Space Dock (TMA Review) to innovative titles like Boom Brigade. Well, Chillingo might have hit paydirt again with the release of Zombie Escape – an original (and zombie-filled) look on the genre.
