About a month ago Highlights Monster Day went free permanently. If you have young kids this would be a great way to introduce them to what a typical day in the life of a kid looks like, regardless of whether you are a monster or a human. As a parent you might even find yourself playing around with this a bit every now and again, though it’s not as adult addictive as a many of the other kids’ games I’ve talked about over time. Still, it’s not really meant to be for you anyway, and you can’t really beat free.
Are you interested in finding some entertaining games to help kill some time over the 4th of July weekend? 10tons Ltd. is happy to oblige by putting all of its iOS games on sale. This includes the great marble popper series Sparkle, wonderful matching games like the Azkend series and Heroes Of Kalevala, and quirky puzzle fare like King Oddball. For a full list of games check out their iTunes page here: 10tons on iTunes
Write for Dropbox, an intuitive writing app with a slick interface, is now free for the iPhone after the release of its iPad version. Using Dropbox to sync all your work, the app opens to a blank note so you can quickly jot down your ideas or notes quickly. You’ll also find an extra row of convenient keys above the keyboard that provides shortcuts to popular Markdown syntax. And aside from the host of sharing options available, one of my favorite little features is the cursor trackpad that lets you easily move the cursor around the screen and select desired text.
GAMEVIL, best known for their RPGs and having just released the anticipated Diablo-like dungeon crawler Dark Avenger, is now offering a handful of their “Retro” iOS games for $0. From the fun and casual titles like Air Penguin and KAMI RETRO, to the popular JRPG series ZENONIA (parts 1 through 3), a good selection GAMEVIL games can now be downloaded completely free – for a limited time. Check out the complete freebie links after the break.
EA has launched their 4th annual “Sweet Deals” iOS sale just ahead of Easter weekend, with nearly all their iPhone and iPad games on sale for $0.99. Big name titles like FIFA SOCCER 13, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Bejeweled HD can all be yours for a buck. Meanwhile, everyone’s favorite word game Bookworm and Chillingo’s Monster Truck Destruction (a subsidiary of EA) are currently free for a limited time. Now would be a great time to stock up on some of the games you’ve had your eye on, or gift them on iOS 6 to someone special for Easter. The full roundup of links after the gap.
CARROT, the quirky todo list “with a personality”, has received its next major update (V3.0) and adds three most-requested features from its users: the ability to set reminders/due dates, repeating tasks and Siri Integration (have Siri add tasks into CARROT for you). But since this is not your ordinary todo app, these first have to be unlocked by actually completing tasks on your list (mark tasks as completed, score points and level up). Think of it as an incentive to get productive. Just don’t expect it be as complex as Things (TMA Review) or OmniFocus; it was designed to be fast, simple and most of all, fun to use. CARROT is now free for a day as well, so grab it for your iPhone, unlock all the goodies and get busy.
SEGA has dropped prices on a number of their Sonic themed games for the weekend to just a dollar, and they include Sonic CD, Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Ep. II (both of which were $4.99) and Sonic Dash. Titles from from other publishers – both big and small – have also knocked off a few bucks off their games. Most of the deals are likely good through Monday, so have a look at the full list of app sales after the break.Â
Darsoft specializes in productivity/business apps for iOS (PDF PROvider, Print Utility) and chief among them is PDF Forms, which has dropped in price to Free for the very first time. Previously priced at $8.99, PDF Forms is stacked with features like fillable forms, annotations, multiple signature support, stamps, Dropbox/Google Drive and documents management (split/duplicate/re-order/zip forms). While its interface may not be as attractive as apps like PDF Expert or even PDF Cabinet, PDF Forms is a more than capable PDF reader and annotator that doubles as a form filler and more. For the price of free, this is certainly worth checking out on your iPad.
Looking for the latest app sales and deals for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad? Here’s our roundup today for the most recent freebies and price drops that are worth checking out. As always, they’re only good for a very limited time.
To celebrate over 300 million copies on Android and iOS Devices, Polaris Office has dropped in price from $19.99 to $3.99 for iOS (though it’s been on sale at $12.99). A solid office suite that’s improved over various updates (the latest adding iPhone 5 support), Polaris lets you view and edit Microsoft Office documents like Word, Excel and Powerpoint on the iPhone and iPad. The main cloud storage services – Dropbox, Google Drive and Box.net – are also supported, so you can access your files just about anywhere. The price drop is good for 3 days, until March 7th, so you still have plenty of time to pick up this universal app up at a steep discount.
