Future Racer to rip into App Store from Indie Developer Assyria Game Studio

pr-futureracer-screenshot_003

Well, I personally cannot get enough of racing games. Assyria Game Studio‘s first foray into App Store gaming is Future Racer, a game which I dropped in order to write this bit. Part F-Zero, part Star Wars Pod racing, it is a fast and furious hover racing simulation with a graphics engine which pushes the iDevice. The best part though, is that Assyria Game Studio didn’t skimp on music. Techno, trippy, and well-matched to the game’s speed, there may be no need for iTunes playback at all!

We also have a hands-on preview of Future Racer.

Hover Poker – the bets are in for multiplayer gambling

pr-game-clickgamer-hoverpoker-logo

Yeah, I bet you do! Like gambling that is. Well, Hover Poker, a Texas Hold ‘Em game, may take the blinders from the eyes of computer-poker naysayers with features like anti-cheat, no-limit holdem, an Old-West soundtrack (yes, you read that right), and auto-save. It is being developed by Jormy Games and published by Clickgamer.

Chillingo’s Inkvaders set to pillage the App Store

pressrelease-Game-Chillingo-invaders-armybase_14

Chillingo, the sonorous company name that ringo’s in me earo’s like so many angels, signals another chorus – this time, to the tune of ‘The British are Coming’. The invaders came from an unlikely spot: the notebook sketches of one bored student who now has to do something to stop the creatures s/he created. Evidently, that something is to draw a hero who will fight off the baddies. Invaders is described as a ‘wacky shooter’ and from the description, it shouldn’t disappoint.

But, it might have trouble with its name. Invaders is about as common a name in gaming as Park or Kim are surnames in Korea. Darren McKie’s game, Invaders is a game where you play the invading force trying to dominate Earth from above. I rather think the two should team up.

The original game spawned four sequels – the most sincere proof of its market influence – and in 2009, has undergone a facelift, a re-imagining, and now, has been stuffed into the iDevice, waiting to be dug up iPhone gamers. And Now for Something Completely Different: Swine Flu Outbreak at the App Store

pr-swineflu-swine-flu1review-game-toy-raid31

Its hard to take the news out of our lives, but the recent Swine Flu outbreak has zapped a dose of ‘reality says’ into me. My wife and I just recently had a second wedding, which, in order for her family also to receive free a under-the-table tour, was held in Japan. Well, we arrived a few days early on a plane that should have gone to Seoul from Toronto to drop off our luggage, but because of the louts at Air Canada, was diverted to Tokyo. So, there we were with over 100KG of excess luggage including two beautiful Marinoni Fango cyclocross bikes, no where to stay and Air Canada’s mutant-attendants telling us that our next destination would not be covered. I grew 10 extra grey hairs in that near-death experience (I was about to kill someone, you see). But, this is not that story.
