Palm Heroes map editor FREE and available

In anticipation of their next Palm Heroes update, which will add cross-platform multiplayer, the Palm Heroes Team have released a Palm Heroes Map Editor for this amazing turn-based Strategy/RPG. In case you were wondering what Palm Heroes is, it is basically a perfect rendition of Heroes of Might and Magic which has been tearing up the strategy/RPG scene since the 1990′s. It is one of the best iPhone RPG’s and here’s the dirt: shigzeo plays no other game but it, especially late at night when he is supposed to be asleep. Once the update hits the AppStore, users will be able to create and upload their own maps, opening endless possibilities for gameplay in addition to the preset scenarios.

You can download the editor here which comes with a FREE version of Palm Heroes.

Palm Heroes cross-platform multiplayer caught on video

I will always have a special place in my heart for the Heroes of Might and Magic series. That’s why I couldn’t help but review Palm Heroes when it came out for the iDevice in August. It was, actually, on of my first ever reviews for TouchMyApps. Later, I was lucky enough to secure an interview with the Palm Heroes team and had quite an interesting conversation with them on all things iPhone. And one of the exclusive announcements they made was the fact they were working on adding cross-platform multiplayer to one of the iPhone’s best games.

I am happy to announce that the work on the multiplayer is coming to its final stages and the update will be submitted into the AppStore soon. And while waiting for it check out the exclusive video of it in play after the gap!

iTête à iTête – Heroes of iPhone and iPod Touch – An interview with Eugene and Andrey of the Palm Heroes Team

dev_blog_ph

When I reviewed Palm Heroes in August, it was one of the best games on the iPhone and things haven’t changed since. Nevertheless, the developers continue updating it with better and better controls, graphics, new maps and much much more in the works. Following the 1.1 update that brought into life a completely rebuilt interface, the Palm Heroes team are working to hard to get version 1.2 to the App Store in the next couple of weeks. The list of updates shows the enormous amount of work they are continuing to put into the game:

  • better response to fingers. “quick tapping lag” solved!
  • manual zoom on “pinch in”
  • autoscroll in autozoom can be turned off now
  • Czech language support
  • minimap is scrollable now
  • new “hero” button when infobar is open
  • buttons “switch hero” and “menu” exchanged places for more convenient control
  • better description of controls in the help section
  • more maps to play

And today, Eugene and Andrei of the Palm Heroes Team have agreed to join me and talk about their experience of developing such a complex product for the iPhone, as well as to share some thoughts on the future of both their products and the iPhone in general. My questions are still in bold.

Palm Heroes in Review – Heroes of Might & Magic in the palm of your hand

I remember the good old days in university… ah my Alma-mater! The insightful lectures, the engaging seminars… Yeah, right. More like the long boring sermonic chit chats from old fogies. And after classes we must have spent hours in the dorm huddled around an old PC playing Heroes of Might & Magic 3. It was and still is one the best games of all time and is the unrivaled party game up there with the great Worms series.
