Reservations for upcoming Mailbox app now open to iOS users

Mailbox, the soon to be released Gmail client for iOS that’s unlike any other on the App Store, can now be reserved through the company’s website. If you’re not familiar with Mailbox, it’s a highly unique email app that’s designed to help you reach the ever elusive goal of “Inbox Zero”. Using intuitive swipes, you can easily archive or trash your messages, and even snooze emails for reading at a later time (choose between preset categories or pick your own date/time). Snoozed messages will then archived and removed from view, and eventually return to your inbox automatically, thus allowing you to concentrate on what’s important.

King Oddball (TMA Review), brought to you by 10tons, is a rather strange yet addictive physics puzzler. In it, you take on the role of a miffed king and attempt to flatten targets with huge boulders that you launch with your tongue.

Your aim, then, is to crush as many targets as you possibly can with each and every boulder that you let loose in order to wipe out the human civilisation. You do this across 120 levels, which are packed with collapsing structures and plenty of opportunities to unlock Game Center-powered achievements. King Oddball is now free (was $2.99) and is a universal app for the iPhone and iPad.

The Mac Freebie Bundle – 8 Mac apps for Free (value of $117)

We’ve covered a number of Mac Bundles in the past, and this is first time I can recall that it’s being given away absolutely for free. Held over at Stacksocial, there are 8 Mac apps found in the bundle and they include Ondesoft Screen Capture ($30), ClipBuddy ($30, a great tool that saves all the clips you make) and Image Smith ($16). The only thing that’s required is for you to have a free Stacksocial account, and then Like/Share it either via Facebook or Twitter. The total value of the Mac Freebie Bundle is $117, and there should be at the very least an app or two that you’ll find useful.

Car Jack Streets is a Grand Theft Auto-esque action title in which you take on the role of Randal Meyers, who’s a down on his luck gambler that owes big bucks to the Italian mob.

Your aim, then, is to pull off legal and illegal jobs around a crime-ravaged city to pay off your debt and ensure that you don’t wake up next to a horse’s head. Car Jack Streets features tons of cars, helicopters, and other vehicles, and a varied arsenal of powerful weaponry. Get your free copy of Fairway Solitaire (full version) for the iPhone

Big Fish Games is now giving away free copies of their smash hit Fairway Solitaire, a mighty addictive variation of solitaire with a golf theme. This solitaire game with a humorous twist has the player attempting to clear all the cards in a hole (over 350 to play through) with “golf clubs” and playing cards in their own deck. The only way to capture a card is to use one from the deck that is either one number higher or lower than that on the playing field. The real fun lies in trying to string together a series of card runs, which in turn will unlock golf bucks (in-game currency) and other achievements.

Madfinger Games announces DEAD TRIGGER 2 at CES

Madfinger’s hit zombie shooter DEAD TRIGGER has already reached 14 million downloads, and the dev team has taken the opportunity at NVIDIA’s CES 2013 press conference to announc DEAD TRIGGER 2. It was demoed on NVIDIA’s Project SHIELD – a 360-like controller with it’s own flip up 5″ 720p display, running on a Tegra 4 chip – and it’s once again powered by the Unity game engine. According to Marek Rabas, CEO of Madfinger, DT2 is going to be even bigger, better and much more addictive”. Not a whole lot has been revealed at this point, but it’s probably safe to say that there’ll be even more zombies and the undead to kill and the visuals will be top notch. As for the release date, expect it to see the light of day in the second quarter of 2013 on both Android and iOS devices. Check out some gameplay footage after the break.

Mauz to turn your iPhone into a wireless motion and visual gesture controller

There are quite a few excellent apps that’ll turn your iPhone into a wireless mouse for your Mac/PC (Mobile Mouse being one of them), but one company is looking to drastically improve upon the experience with a tiny peripheral called the Mauz. Combined with a dedicated app, the Mauz (the first of its kind in the ‘appcessory’ world) essentially will turn your iPhone into a motion and visual gesture controlled wireless mouse.

Percepto, Apple’s Game of the Week when it first released back in early 2011, is an interesting puzzle game in which you take on the role of a small boy who falls asleep and awakens in a strange two-dimensional world.

Your aim, then, is to escape your new flattened confines by overcoming various puzzles, which require you to flip switches and activate moving blocks. In order to progress, you’ll have to move in 2D but exercise your brain and think in 3D. If you’re up for a delightful and unique puzzler, be sure to grab Percepto while it’s still free.
