Load times. Memory. Indirect links. iTunes is a glorious application but with its numerous functions, even in OSX it is not as fast as it was just months ago. Widows Windows users have a right to complain, it is slow in Vista or XP and probably in the upcoming Windows 7 Widows, but now, Apple are causing disbelief even among their most loyal followers: the Mac faithful.
Just in case your iPhone suffers infiltration (Today’s E90 report), there are deadly weapons of revenge at your disposal. The first and safest option is to rollback to Apple Firmware until the the smoke settles and the digital fugitives are either caught or sentenced retirement with former President Bush. The second option is to take revenge with a little sniping of your own.
As reported by Today’s E90, snipers may have already landed in a jailbreaked iPhone or iPod Touch near you. According to the article, whilst tinkering with the calender in the /var/root section, nao, Today’s E90’s author found a suspect .* directory. Any directory beginning with a full stop is invisible to the ls command unless appended with -a. Nao found it because he usually appends the -a extension and was able to discover the directory. The source of the attack remains unclear.
At the moment, there seems to be no other commotion over this attack however, the threat remains. Do not store sensitive documents on your Jailbreaked iPhone especially if this is not an isolated incident. Apple Firmware users have yet to worry about this however, that does not mean the threat does not exist.
Ten One Design, creator of pogo stylus and pogo sketch stylus for the iPod Touch and iPhone have brought out SoundClip, a new device that passively brightens the sound of the iPhone’s built in speaker. According to them, it is no magic trick, just a bit of good science:
The way SoundClip works isn’t all that hard to understand. The iPhone emits a fair amount of acoustic energy through the speaker. Unfortunately, many of these sound waves are directed down and away from the user. SoundClip reflects them toward you so you can hear them better.
But how does it actually amplify? The dimensions and shape of the conical chamber create a resonance chamber facilitating the attenuation of some frequencies, and the amplification of others. The next part is the trickiest. We tuned the resonance chamber to actually improve the sound from your iPhone, resulting in a frequency response that is flatter, and more natural sounding.
Japan has a huge mobile network that for many users, predicates the PC’s role as superfluous. However, that mobile network makes use of what Apple might call the ‘non-real internet’. If your needs turn you to that ‘non-real internet your user experience is at best turbulent and sometimes laughable. It just won’t do mobile internet with any semblance of reliability. Even some ‘real’ internet pages don’t display correctly, becoming a choppy and unusable mess.
The age old question still remains: what does one do when they must reserve shinkansen tickets from sites like express yoyaku? Answer, hop on a computer or use a phone that can only access the ‘non-real internet’.
Before you get the idea that I am only on about ‘boobs’, I must deny that I am. However, I just keep finding the same sort of app popping up all over internet. iJiggles admittedly offers some interesting options for things for you to get off your chest but the persistence of a silly idea and then the follower apps is unbelievable. Anyway, this video is made for Japan as iBoobs main views came from the land of the samurai.
Thanks to appbank for the tip.
Just spotted some good news from the youtube about a pending release from the iPhone Dev Team that implicates everyone’s favourite iPod Touch as the target for the next Jailbreak. What does this mean for our sleek excellent sounding pmp? Well, if you like homebrew, alternate video codecs, ports, extra gadgets etc, a jailbraked iPod Touch will certainly be your stew of choice.
Yes, you have heard it correctly, the iPhone is the newest and easiest way for peepers to grab thrills from the safety of a 3.5 inch screen. All that is required is a couple of female friends who don’t mind baring their chests for your private enjoyment or a telephoto lens, camouflage trousers, a tripod, the fall of evening and patience. iBoobs, a rejected app had the wrong premise: 3D modelled moving breasts attract unwanted attention and get old quickly. What real pervs need is either iJiggles or for the less creative Wobble.
(The above video is not my iPod)
Ages ago, when Pull My Finger, a gas of an app whose cheese was cut by Apple for having ‘limited usability’ made waves on internet, the App Store was still young. Now, with over 10 000 apps in its library, the App Store is a gigantic katamari ball for both good and crap software. Need we more evidence than last Christmas when a farting app made the top ten seller list, touting features like, “the sick dog”?
Though there is nothing other than a product listing from XSKN, a case manufacturer, the fabled iPhone Nano is burning up the web. As the end of the year approaches so too does the hastening of new product announcements and speculation. Our colleagues at Slide to Play mentioned in a recent article that it would be a “be a logistical and PR nightmare” for Apple to release a product like the iPhone Nano. I think we can all agree that there would be complications to such a product release, but on the flip side, are there no positives?
