The Sandstorm Strikes Back!- MC:S Multiplayer Update Is Upon Us!

modern-combat-sandstorm-preview1If you’ve read my review of Modern Combat: Sandstorm, then you know how much I praised the game. With gorgeous graphics, good solid controls, and an enjoyable but short storyline, Modern Combat: Sandstorm provides for an excellent FPS experience on the iDevice.

However, my only gripe with the near-perfect game was the lack of online multiplayer. Well folks, after nearly 3 months of waiting, Gameloft has finally pulled through! Local and online multiplayer has been added in this new and one heck of an update. 3 maps are currently offered, which support up to 4 players in solo or team matches. Performance on my 3GS has been surprisingly good, with minimal lag experienced. Needless to say, this is one heck of an update. One of the best FPSes on the iDevice just got better. Modern Combat: Sandstorm is highly recommended if you still haven’t picked up a copy yet. Go Go Go!

Update: There have been widespread reports of players encountering the dreaded UPNP error when attempting to connect to a network. Personally, I was able to “fix” this by turning Airplane mode on on my iPhone. If this doesn’t work for you, try enabling/disabling your bluetooth as well. Hopefully, Gameloft will have this sorted out shortly.

Modern Combat: Sandstorm in Review – I’m Not Crying, I Just Got Sand In My Eyes

Having just recovered from the sheer awe of Gangstar, my sanity is threatened again by yet another awesome cat which Gameloft just pulled from the proverbial bag: Modern Combat: Sandstorm (MC: S). Saying MC: S is a FPS (first person shooter) with nice 3D graphics would be an understatement. MC: S is one of the most realistic App Store games to date; a game with a fantastic story line, voiceovers, amazing sound effects – saying that would just about cover the tip of the iceberg.

Gameloft’s Modern Combat: Sandstorm blasts into App Store

modern-combat-sandstorm-preview1

About a month ago, we had posted the teaser trailer for the eagerly awaited Modern Combat: Sandstorm by Gameloft. The video surprised a lot of folks with just how good games on the iDevice can look and makes us wonder if developers have already pushed the iPlatform to its limits in the visuals department (lets hope not). Well the wait is over for all you FPS and Call of Duty 4 fans;  Modern Combat is now finally out at the App Store.

Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Gameloft’s new action-thriller will plunge you into the heart of modern war. Assigned to Mission Sandstorm, your duty is to locate and annihilate a new terrorist cell setting up shop and recruiting foreign insurgents in a remote desert hot spot. This jarring first person shooter will equip you with the most sophisticated and powerful modern day weapons.

You never want to judge a book by its cover, but damn, Modern Combat is looking like a must have FPS for the iPhone/iPod Touch. If blasting terrorists to bits is your cup of tea (on the iDevice no less), you probably don’t want to miss out on Gameloft’s latest App Store offering. More info including a sweet gameplay trailer after the jump.

Modern Combat: Sandstorm teaser trailer

Gameloft has dropped a teaser trailer for their upcoming game, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, an FPS (first person shooter) for the iPhone/iPod Touch. This Call of Duty 4-like FPS adds to Gameloft’s impressive list of upcoming games, which already includes Gangstar and NFL 2010. As you can see from the trailer, Sandstorm has some incredible visuals that seem to be on par with the early PS2 games. And if the game controls (among other things) hold their end of the bargain, this could be an FPS no fan would want to miss. With ngmoco’s livefire (another FPS we saw back in June at the WWDC 2009) also in the works, fans of the genre will certainly be in for an App Store treat.
