In what is sure to be a complex proceeding, shigzeo of TMA was arrested on a recent business trip to God’s Country. While specific names and locations will remain undisclosed, it is clear to us is that he was arrested while out in the rural countryside around New York State’s largest city. Purportedly, shigzeo had a scoop that took him and his much loved Marnoni Fango bicycle across the border to visit the home of someone who knew, “the biggest news ever to be upped onto The Internets”.We said goodbye to him at 10:00 am this morning and have not properly heard from him since.
Finally, Skype has arrived for the iPhone and the expectations of the masses of consumers are met by reality: Skype is just not that iPhone friendly. You may check out the App Store, AppleInsider, Macrumors or even utilise the app youself – I am sure you will quickly find that Skype, while a great try, has a long way to go.
Analysts exist to help stock run up and down based on speculation and silly reports. So, while RBC reckon that a cheap iPhone won’t debut to expectant consumer hands, Lazard Capital Markets analyst, Daniel Amir suggests that indeed, a cheaper iPhone will make its appearance, just not to North American and Europe.
His take is that the cheaper iPhone will not be for those consumers who don’t value fast internet speeds or other features, but rather for different countries. How novel – here, Lazard who were relatively unknown now have a space atop Apple Insider’s blog and now a hand in probable stock shifts. Amir’s predictions are that Brazil, Russia, India and China – or China only – will get the lower priced iPhone that features fewer features while the whuffie-stealing model will be an unpredictable upgrade to the current iPhone. In fact, he goes so far as to say that it will harbour more space! More Camera! And more video! Continue reading…
Engadget report on a picture included in a recent patent application by Apple which displays a jailbreaked summerboard and a few apps that only Jailbreaked iPhones can run. After Apple’s bruhaha legal paper detailing the illegality of Jailbreaking and its detrimental effects on their service standards, the hand-drawn images surprise and confuse. Bafflement aside, the new patent is quite clear: more security for the iPhone user.
Just a short note. Something I’m sure you have already sussed out. A phone is a phone is a phone only works in the comics. When it comes to Apple and carriers, it is another tale all together. Poor sods in the Apple Discussion boards who bought iPhones in Japan are realising that their prescious hardware cannot make the trip back to the USA without suffering downgrading to an iPod Touch.
Softbank and Apples negotiations are somewhat to blame as well as Japanese law as well as general greed. If you have an iPhone from there, by all bloody means, leave it there. Same phone. Same software – does not matter. The point is $$$ – and you need to pay twice. Most of us are aware of this fact, but you must remember that our Jesus Phone is not the saviour of our souls, merely the freeloader of our pocket books.
Remember, if you move, sell your silly iPhone before going back home unless you purchased an unlocked phone from a good consumer-conscious country!
Not news, but just a damn delicious website and preview trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 for the iPod Touch and iPhone. Konami may not be re-creating our beloved Metal Gear Solid as it has been known for consoles and portables since the Nintendo Family computer, but they are releasing a highly anticipated shooter that sports everyone’s favourite snake and some great graphics. For those with fast fingers or addiction to Metal Gear games, this looks to be a portable pleaser. [Check out our review here]
For fans of the iDevice, it is a welcome sign that more and more big gaming companies are taking the platform seriously. Not only have Konami put the effort into coding a unique release for us touch gamers, but they have created an amusing and relevant webpage complete with ‘touching’. Kudos to you who navigate Konami’s webpage with iTap!

30 January, 2009, a beautiful shooter popped onto the App Store. Â ExZeus is developed by HyperDevBox and reminiscent of the days of Galaga or Space Harrier, but gloriously rendered and spectrally highlighted in 3D. Â If you like Japanese robots in particular and shooting things as a hobby, get excited because no one does robots better than the Japanese and no one shoots better than a robot. Â ExZeus is as per the App Description, a port of the famous arcade hit that has more recently made waves in in the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2 crowd. Â
Gameplay video after the jump.
Load times. Â Memory. Â Indirect links. Â iTunes is a glorious application but with its numerous functions, even in OSX it is not as fast as it was just months ago. Â Widows Windows users have a right to complain, it is slow in Vista or XP and probably in the upcoming Windows 7 Widows, but now, Apple are causing disbelief even among their most loyal followers: Â the Mac faithful.
