Gameloft launched 8 HD titles for the iPad

Gameloft have revealed their starting lineup for tomorrow’s release of the iPad. Not surprisingly, they include some of their best selling games, including:

  • Asphalt 5 HD
  • Dungeon Hunter HD
  • Let’s Golf HD
  • Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD
  • N.O.V.A. – Near Orbital Vanguard Alliance HD
  • NFL 2010 HD
  • Real Soccer 2010 HD
  • Uno HD

Judging from the video above, it looks like we’ll be seeing much improved graphics compared to their iPhone/iPod Touch counterparts, as well as the implementation of the multitouch interface into the gameplay. And with the iPad’s relatively large screen size (compared to that of the iPhone), it may take some time for gamers to get used to holding the device like a virtual controller. Full press release after this space.

Marvel Comics app arrives for the iPad and iPhone

Marvel Comics on the iPad

If you’ve been keeping up with some of the unboxing and video reviews for the iPad, you’ll likely have seen the Marvel Comics app (briefly) in action. Well, now that Apple have let loose the iPad apps in iTunes almost 2 days ahead of launch date, the much hyped Marvel app can actually be downloaded for your iPhone and iPod Touch this very moment.

Introducing the MARVEL COMICS app, a revolutionary new way to experience the Marvel Universe on your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, featuring the world’s most popular super heroes! Download hundreds of comic books featuring your favorite characters -— including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine and more — on your mobile device with the touch of a button. You’ll experience Marvel’s greatest series and stories like never before, with your choice of guided view (an animated, panel-by-panel path through the comic), or by using regular device controls to zoom and pan your way through pages of sizzling story and amazing artwork!

I’ve checked out the app on my iPhone for about 20 minutes and so far I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen. Reading a comic via the panel-by panel approach works surprisingly well and the overall interface is well done. So far, there are 5 comics you can download for FREE (Captain America, Amazing Spider Man etc.) and the price seems to be set at $1.99 for all the current in-app comic purchases. As good as the app looks thus far on the iPhone, it’s not hard to image just how much BETTER Marvel Comics will be on the much larger screen of the iPad.

Apple reveals iPad-Ready Websites

Despite the initial rounds of positive reviews for the iPad, there are concerns that the device won’t have support for flash. Some feel that universal support for HTML5 is still years away and that Apple should cater to a format that’s most compatible with the market today. Well Apple seems to be taking a firm stance on the matter as they’ve just revealed a list of websites that “supports the latest web standands – including HTML5, CSS 3 and Javascript“. Some of these sites include CNN, New York Times, Vimeo, Time, Sports Illustrated, Flickr, People Magazine, and Major League Baseball. The common denominator here appears to be support for watching video on the iPad via an HTML5 compatible player. Apple have even included a section for companies to “Submit their site to the growing list“, as well as providing detailed info to webmasters on how to ensure that their website is fully functional when viewed on an iPad.

If you’re on the fence and unsure whether to take the plunge this Saturday (assuming you can actually find one without a pre-order), these videos could very well help make up your mind. Complete roundup after the break!
