Action RPGs are a tricky lot to get right. You have to have the perfect balance between RPG and action in order to appease both types of players. On top of that you have to be careful to avoid a common feature that plagues both style of game: repetitiveness. Forcing the genre into a side scrolling perspective adds additional burden, because you all but lose one facet of the RPG side, which is puzzle solving. Unfortunately, ILLUSIA tends to weigh more heavily on the action side of things, and quite frankly that action is starting to get rather boring. I’ve put at least 3-4 hours into the game, it feels like I’ve been playing for days, and I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished much.
Gamevil’s highly anticipated sequel Zenonia 2 has finally hit the App Store. Zenonia, arguably one of the best Action RPGs for the iDevice, makes its return with a bang and this follow up looks to improve upon its predecessor in every aspect.
ZENONIA 2: The Lost Memories has been highly enhanced in every aspect compared to the original. Full character and control customization, four characters following individual epic storylines, three different modes, asynchronous online PvP feature and an extended world of ZENONIA guarantee greater enjoyment!
Fans of Zenonia will undoubtedly be snapping up this extremely promising sequel in a heart beat. At $4.99, RPG gamers could be looking at another awesome bargain – one that’ll give ‘em hours of button mashin’ gameplay. Be sure to look for our review in the coming days!
Gamevil, Zenonia 2: Lost Memories – $4.99
If you loved Gamevil’s hit RPG Zenonia last year (and enjoy watching cute Asian girls on Youtube), you’ll definitely want to check out the preview video above. The Korean mobile games developer has announced that their highly anticipated sequel ZENONIA 2: The Lost Memories will be submitted to Apple for approval by the end of the week. With four playable characters and improved “Graphics, user interface, costume customization and skill effects”, Zenonia 2 is looking like another sure fire hit for Gamevil. Barring any delays, we should be seeing its release sometime next week.
You know, I must have spent ages on my ancient PC (a crusty 286) playing the big arcade hit: Golden Axe. Years later, I remember it as an amazing blend of side-scrolling action arcade and fighting. Now, what would you get if you mixed that relic with some good ol’ RPG elements? A hybrid? No, THE HYBRID! Introducing the latest epic adventure from the makers of the famous Zenonia, Hybrid: Eternal Whisper.
Baseball Superstars is certainly one of the most popular and well liked baseball games for the mobile platform, having sold over 10,000,000 copies worldwide. We reviewed B.S 2009 awhile back and found it to be a “deep and well executed Baseball game”, with RPG elements to boot. If you too enjoyed this best selling game, you’d be happy to know that Gamevil has recently submitted Baseball Superstars 2010 for review and it’s expected to be released at the App Store sometime this month. Thanks to players’ feedback, Gamevil have made various improvements and additions to the 2010 release, including even more player customization, hidden characters and a better user interface. Be sure to check out the gameplay video that’ll take you through the different aspects of B.S 2010 after the jump!
If you’re a fan of the iDevice RPG Zenonia and have been following Gamevil closely, you may already have heard of their highly anticipated and upcoming ARPG, Hybrid: Eternal Whisper. Just like Zenonia, Hybrid is an existing Korean title that is getting the full-on i-treatment and being ported to the iDevice come September/October. Unlike the big Z’s more traditional over the top gameplay view, Hybrid: Eternal Whisper is a side-scrolling action-RPG with plenty style and flare. From the trailer alone, it looks like Gamevil has another winner on their hands. Once we receive our preview copy, we’ll be sure to give you our thoughts on how this promising game is turning out. More screenies and the storyline after the jump!
We’ve already previewed/reviewed the game, held a nice giveaway and even interviewed the bright minds of Gamevil right at the heart of their Seoul Headquarters. So what else is there to cover about Zenonia? The Lite version of course! Gamevil has just sent word that Zenonia Lite is here and now available at the App Store. That’s right folks, the iDevice’s best ARPG can be downloaded free for all to see what the fuss is all about. This version features:
- Total 8 playable main & sub quests
- Full feature play in the village of Alyes
- Normal and rare items available among 5 item classes.
By the looks of it, Zenonia Lite still offers quite a bit for gamers to sink their teeth into. I’d even say that it’d be surprising NOT to see if this one make it to #1 on the Free Apps chart in the very near future. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you haven’t already done so.
TouchMyApps is giving away 5 copies of Gamevil’s Zenonia, a premier iDevice RGP that needs no introduction. Since its release back in May, Zenonia has been one of the most sought after and well-liked titles at the App Store, with plenty of review sites and gamers alike proclaiming it a “must buy”. Young, TMA’s review guru had this to say about Zenonia:
Zenonia is a must-not-miss game that deserves a space on everyone’s iDevice front page. Gamevil surprised me at how much they can pack into one game in such a small device. I’ll say it here and now, Zenonia is definitely worth its price.
