For the longuest time the absence of quality console jRPG games from the iDevice was a gaping hole just waiting to be filled. Early this year Square Enix re-released FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY II for the iDevice, then followed up with CHAOS RINGS, a celebrated RPG that I thought could have been so much more. What we were left with was the excellent port of the PSP classic – Crimson Gem Saga. Now you can add another to the list thanks to Gameloft’s ambitious title Eternal Legacy.
Gameloft, infamous for its array of games “inspired†by various successful PC titles has lately been on a roll, releasing games under licensed franchises. Comic game adaptation have suffered a fate similar to many movie-inspired titles with below par releases across all platforms. How is this one different?

Stealth-Action games are a relatively new genre in the gaming market. Having been originated by the legendary Thief series of games, they were only made truly popular by the Splinter Cell franchise under the umbrella of the king of modern warfare literature – Tom Clancy. And Gameloft, no stranger to bringing over highly successful game franchises from other platforms to the iDevice, has released a special version of the latest instance in the series – Splinter Cell Convictionâ„¢.
Prince of Persia is arguably one of the most renowned games ever. Even more importantly – it’s one of the more successful remakes of any franchises on the PC. And a few months ago the famous franchise started it’s triumphant stroll across the iOS platform with the release of both the classic Prince of Persia® Retro and a full-featured port of the PS2 version of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. So how do the adventures of the Prince translate to the touchscreen?
If you like beat-’em-ups (and I know you do), you might be just the person we’re looking for. Spidy, at it again against asthmatics baddies, will be slinging to an iDevice near you in the very near future. Be prepared for the combos, subtitles, and mad violence that only the webber Spiderman can deliver. Below are some screenies and above, Gameloft’s latest trailer. Take your pick.
