Gameloft has released the first Dev Diary video for Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, the highly anticipated FPS and one of the most popular in the genre for iOS and Android. The next installment in the series utilizes the Havoc game engine, which you can thank for its spectacular graphics. One twist that should please gamers is how they’ll only only be able to play as US soldier, but also the president-kidnapping villain, Edward Page. MC4 will also offer a new specialization systems feature that will allow you to choose from several ‘perks’, those of which provide various bonuses to complement different styles of play.
Playing games on the iDevice can be a jolly good time, but the virtual d-pad/controls can on occasion be the weakest link. Sure you can add simple accessories like the Fling joystick or Tactile+Plus, but these just aren’t the real deal. Enter the Duo Gamer, a console-style controller made to work with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This bluetooth controller has two analog joysticks, a d-pad, four buttons and two shoulder trigger buttons. Sadly, the Duo Gamer is only compatible with Gameloft’s iOS games, with several being supported on launch: N.O.V.A. 3, Asphalt 7: Heat, Order & Chaos Online, Brothers in Arms 2, and Modern Combat 3. If you can stomach the fact it’ll only work with a limited number of games (and only for 1 publisher no less), the Duo Gamer will be available on Oct 5th for $79.99 through Apple.com, and retailers like Best Buy, Amazon and Target.
While Gameloft has been fairly quiet with new App Store offerings of late, the publisher has dropped the big one today with the release of the highly anticipated N.O.V.A. 3 – Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance. The first two N.O.V.A’s are widely considered to be among the best FPSes on iOS and the third instalment raises the stakes further by using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3. Among some of its technical highlights include “real-time shadow and lights, particle system and ragdoll physics”. Compared to the similarly styled Crysis games, N.O.V.A 3 takes place 4 months after the hit sequel and features 10 levels across the galaxy, multiple weapons and powers and 6 multiplayer modes that supports up to 12 players.
The game appears to be iDevice friendly as it supports even the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3rd gen and iPad 1. N.O.V.A 3 (a 1.57 GB download) has already been released on the New Zealand App Store and should be making its way across other stores (including US) later in the day. Video trailers and more info after the gap.
Gameloft, N.O.V.A. 3 – Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance – $6.99
To celebrate the release of the new iPad, Gameloft is unleashing another of their popular $0.99 iOS deals. Leading the charge is Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, an awesome first person shooter that features online multiplayer with up to 12 players in 6 maps and 7 game modes. This is also the first time the FPS has dropped in price (down from $6.99) on the platform. Other dollar sales include Modern Combat: Domination for the Mac, Starfront – Collision (TMA Review) and The Adventures of Tintin. If you’re planning on buy the iPad for the first time tomorrow, now would be a great time to pick up some of those Gameloft HD titles on the cheap. The complete list of iOS games on sale can be found be below.
As part of Gameloft’s Valentine’s Day Sale, 14 of their best-selling iOS and Mac games have dropped to $0.99. For the first time ever (at least in the US App Store), the well-executed movie tie-in and universal app The Adventures of Tintin can now be had for a buck. Other iOS dollar deals include Earthworm Jim, Gangstar Rio: City of Saints and more. For those who game on their Macs, 9mm, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and Dungeon Hunter: Alliance round out this Feb 14th promo. The complete list of Gameloft games on sale can be found below.
Today marks the first day of the Chinese New Year (the Year of the Dragon) and Gameloft is once again offering another $0.99 iOS sale. This time, 9 of their hit titles have dropped to $0.99 for a limited time, including BackStab, Silent Ops and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard. If you’ve missed out on Gameloft’s previous dollar deals, be sure to grab them while the offer’s still good. Complete links after the break.
While not as extensive as EA’s Christmas Sale, Gameloft too has dropped a good number of their iOS titles to $0.99 for the holidays. Of the 17 on sale, some of the more notable ones include Gangstar Rio: City of Saints, N.O.V.A. 2, Fast Five and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six®: Shadow Vanguard. And for those of you who game on the Mac, 6 Gameloft titles on the Mac App Store have also dropped to a dollar (Modern Combat: Domination, Starfront: Collision and more). No word on when the sale ends exactly, though these $0.99 deals should be good for the rest of the week. The complete iTunes links after the break.
Gameloft has just posted the trailer for the upcoming Dungeon Hunter 3, which will be released on Dec 21st. The Dungeon Hunter series on iOS has been among the most popular dual stick action games on the App Store, and they’re certainly one of my favorites in the genre. TMA reviewed both games previously (DH 1 and DH 2) and seeing how they received Kiss and Grab it ratings, the bar’s been set quite high for the third installment. One more thing to note is that Dungeon Hunter 3 will be free to download, so it appears that Gameloft has taken the freemium route with this one as well, much like the recently released Six-Guns.
Not to be out done this Thanksgiving, Gameloft has launched what they’re calling their “Biggest Sale Ever”, resulting in $0.99 price drops for 20 Gameloft iOS games. Big hits like Silent Ops, Starfront – Collision (TMA Review) and Eternal Legacy (TMA Review) are part of this massive sales event. If you’ve been saving up for sweet App Store deals, this is one you don’t want to miss. The full list and links can be found below.
Gameloft is back with another $0.99 App Store deal and this time, 5 iPad titles are currently on sale for a buck. Probably the most desirable from the bunch is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard HD, a superb FPS that supports online co-op and head-to-head multiplayer modes. Also on the list is Dungeon Hunter 2 HD (TMA Review) the sequel to the hit game and one of my favourite hack ‘n slash RPGs on the iDevice. If you’ve got an iPad and several dollar bills to burn, be sure to check out the rest of the Gameloft games on sale after the gap.
