The Settlers II on the PC was, probably, one the best games I’ve ever played. No wonder they recently released The Settlers II 10th Anniversary. I got acquainted with the series with the first installment back in 1993. Back then it was also known as Serf City and it came in a CD loaded with literally thousands of shareware games. With plenty of expectations, can this famed RTS live up to the hype?
Lexic is a perfect game for a group whom I contemn with scorn: word freaks. Nevertheless, Kieffer and Kieffer (or whomever they are) pulled out an early sucker-punch at the App Store gem of a game. The funny thing is that before buying iDevice apps, I cared nothing at all for splelling or wurds; but since February (and learning how to spell), things have slowly changed for me. Lexic is nothing short of awesome.
Has it ever happened that when you get home, or are on a customer’s site, or even on vacation and remember that one critical file you forgot to take with you, or that e-mail you forgot to send? Well, it happened to me more than once (just don’t let my boss know). Well, Shape-Services, creators of the best messaging app on the iPhone, IM+, have released RDM+ – the ultimate answer to remote desktop control anywhere, anytime, using any connection!
iDevice poker apps are a great idea; while you can lose whuffie against your iDevice, or around the world on leaderboards, you don’t have to worry about losing your dosh. Texas Wuggle is an interesting combination of poker and wuggling, and if you couldn’t tell already, is a die-hard casual gambler. This time however, you will arrange cards in order to either become a millionaire, or sit atop the poker circuit in a time-trial stint. Is it fun? Yes it is…

Oh, how far we’ve come. It seems just like yesterday (maybe because it was yesterday), that I asked myself if GarageBand, or at least some form of it, would make its way onto the iDevice. Well, my friends, there is in-fact an app for that, and it goes by the name of Xewton Music Studio.
You know, I must have spent ages on my ancient PC (a crusty 286) playing the big arcade hit: Golden Axe. Years later, I remember it as an amazing blend of side-scrolling action arcade and fighting. Now, what would you get if you mixed that relic with some good ol’ RPG elements? A hybrid? No, THE HYBRID! Introducing the latest epic adventure from the makers of the famous Zenonia, Hybrid: Eternal Whisper.
Having just recovered from the sheer awe of Gangstar, my sanity is threatened again by yet another awesome cat which Gameloft just pulled from the proverbial bag: Modern Combat: Sandstorm (MC: S). Saying MC: S is a FPS (first person shooter) with nice 3D graphics would be an understatement. MC: S is one of the most realistic App Store games to date; a game with a fantastic story line, voiceovers, amazing sound effects – saying that would just about cover the tip of the iceberg.
Thou who have asked politely and waited patiently, shall receive. Been waiting for an iDevice game reminiscent of the popular console and PC franchise, Grand Theft Auto? Well, my friends, the time has come and your prayers have been answered – Gangstar is now available at the App Store.
We all played boardgames as kids. Some of us still do. The fun (and occasional frustration) of it all can provide memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks to EA, you can re-live those memories and create some new ones at the same time. With immensely successful previous boardgame releases such as Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit, EA is continuing to turn classic family boardgames into amazing iDevice adventures with their latest release, The Game of Life Classic Edition.
1978′s monumental game, Space Invaders, is a game that almost everyone should have played at least once in their life. Though I’ve played the original several times coin-op at arcades and pizzerias, I wasn’t its biggest fan. I found the graphics bland and the music dull. However, for 1978 it was an amazing feat for the budding video game business. Now, in 2009, a new Space Invaders game, Space Invaders Infinity Gene (or SIIG for short) – is out. And it rocks. This game not only draws my attention more than a fly to a lightbulb, but is my favorite shooter game of all time.
