Last year I shared with you my thoughts on some games that you should be playing over the spooky Halloween season.  I’ve decided to continue the trend this year, except I changed my philosophy a bit in that I covered only games that I’ve played this time around.  Also, instead of 20 choices I’m giving you 13, which seems both appropriate given the day this article is honoring and necessary given I’ve run out of time!  Anyway, hopefully this list will be useful to you in finding just the right game to occupy your Halloween night, and you can always check out last year’s list since it’s still full of valid choices.

10 New App Store Games To Watch [Jan. 24 - 30]

The New Year’s parties are finally over!  There basically hasn’t been an outstanding week of new releases since Christmas, but this past week was pretty nice.  Of course the big news was Dead Space (TMA Review), and while I don’t always get to try the top contenders right away, I’ve been able to sink my mitts into this particular one.  I like it – a lot.  Nostalgia buffs should check out Pac-Man Battle Royale, which supports up to 4 pac-men at once and lets you eat both ghosts AND your opponents when you swallow the power pill.  Zombie Café takes the typical restaurant simulation to low places, and if you’re not careful the staff just might eat the patrons.  Finally, horror / adventure game fans finally get the chance to dig deeper into the mystery of Project H with Hysteria Project 2 (TMA Review), but be warned – you might be left with even more questions this time around.

Dead Space in Review – If you want Survival Horror done right, leave it up to EA…

EA is one of the few major publishers that have truly embraced the App Store. Even better, many of their titles truly set a quality benchmark for others to follow, from the classic boarding goodness of SCRABBLE to becoming the mayor in SimCity Deluxe to the parkour action of Mirror’s Edge.
