Color Splash Studio for the iPhone and Mac will soon be getting a major update (with a new UI and “exceptional” features) and Macphun has decided to give the app a whole new name (probably has to do with the fact that it sounds awfully similar to Color Splash – one of the first of its kind on the App Store). Basically, the app converts photographs into black and white and users can easily keep certain areas in its original color, thus give it a more dramatic effect. And this is where you come in. As part of the name change challenge, Macphun has invited you to come up with a new name, with the winner taking home a $500 gift card, a mention in all PR materials, along with 10 copies of the app and free copies of other apps by MacPhun. If you’re feeling creative and wish to enter, simply head over to the New Name landing page and enter the required details. The Color Splash Studio apps are well received on the App Store and currently on sale as well ($0.99 for iPhone, $2.99 for Mac).

And just like that, the iOS App Store’s rapidly approaching a staggeringly impressive milestone – 25 billion downloads. To mark the occasion and as their way of saying thanks (just like they did with the 10 billionth download), Apple will be giving away a $10,000 gift card to one lucky winner.
As of today, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 25 billionth app, and you could win a US$10,000 App Store Gift Card.* Just visit the App Store and download your best app yet.
Aside from having to actually download any apps, you can also enter the contest by submitting your Countdown entry form, up to 25 times per day. Read up on the offical rules here, and start downloading some apps from the Top 25 All-time Paid/Free apps list while you’re at it. Good luck!
ZAGG, the company behind the Flex Keyboard and ZAGGmate, is holding another massive iPad Giveaway this Black Friday. In 2010, ZAGG did an iPad-a-week giveaway; earlier this February, it was an iPad-a-day hand out. Naturally, this Friday, we should be expecting an iPad 2 every hour, right? Starting midnight (MST) on November 25th, 2011, an iPad 2 WiFi 16 GB model can be won every hour, all by visiting the contest page and submitting your entry (Name and email). The key is that each entry only counts for that hour, so you’ll have to re-submit 24 separate times (once each hour) if you really want that iPad badly enough. You’ll also receive up to 3 additional entries per hour if you share that contest page via Twitter and Facebook. Good luck!
Many of you iOS users have most likely come across Readdle on the App Store at one point or another. If you haven’t, just know that they’re responsible for some of the best productivity apps on the iDevice. And seeing how it’s their 4th anniversary, Readdle have slashed 30% off on all their existing apps (sale good until end of today). Not only that, but they’re also giving away 4 iPad 2’s as well (3 left as contest officially started yesterday). More details on the giveaway and app links after the gap.
