Take the future into your own hands in Nostradamus The Last Prophecy – Part 2

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of reviewing Nostradamus The Last Prophecy – Part 1 (TMA Review) – the latest adventure by the Tetraedge games team, released under the watchful eye of Anuman Interactive. You play the role of Madeline, Nostradamus’ daughter, who has to unravel the enigmatic series of murders in the court of Catherine de’ Medici. Not everyone, however, has the same trust in her abilities as the great prophet and so Madeline has to disguise herself as her brother Cesar, who is out travelling.

I felt the story was off to a great start and had a nice balance of puzzles and narrative. The second part that has just been released offers even more puzzles centered around the mystic arts of Astrology, Alchemy, Pharmacy and runic symbols. Can you change the future and defeat Nostradamus’ last prophecy?

Official walkthrough for 7th Guest released on the App Store

When I reviewed the port of The 7th Guest, the legendary PC adventure, I noted that some of the puzzles there can be quite tricky. And that even despite the built-in hint system in the game. Apparently I was not the only one thinking this and due to popular demand Trilobyte released an official walkthrough app for this excellent game – The 7th Guest: Book of Secrets.

One might argue whether it is actually fair to charge an additional $0.99 for the information, already freely available on the internet for anyone who cares to look. But then again, those web-savvy people probably won’t buy this app. For those who are stuck, however, and don’t wish to burden themselves the Book of Secrets presents a great way out of the conundrum.

The Dispersio saga launches on the App Store

All of you who follow TMA know I’m a sucker for a good point-and-click adventure game and have a special place in my heart for any dev team that creates an original title for the iDevice. Well, my heart just got a little more crowded thanks to the Italian indie team Footprint, who recently released Dispersio: Start ENG and Dispersio Alone Lite ENG. Dispersio is a dark graphical novel/ adventure made in an original comic style. Your aunt is dying and you travel to visit her in the hospital. Once there, however, you are dragged into a mysterious event and wake almost 20 years later, only to find the world around you barren of life.

Set your iPad’s course to Destination: Treasure Island

Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel, Treasure Island, is arguably one of the most famous adventure books ever. It has served as food for many adaptations into various media, up to a frivolous animation picture by Disney. The various game adaptations also number in dozens, with a few already finding their way to the App Store. I’m talking, of course, about the port of the excellent PC Adventure – Destination: Treasure Island, remastered and just released for the iPad by developer Coladia. If you’re the lucky owner of the dream tablet and fancy yourself an adventure gamer, there’s no excuse for you not to pick up this excellent game. And if you’re still on the fence about the iPad, Coladia plans to release the iPhone version in the near future.

Gameplay video and more after the gap!

Return to Mysterious Island – Deluxe Edition has crashed onto the iPad

A little over a year ago a game took the App Store’s adventure section by storm, setting a new bar for others to follow and snatching the crown of the genre for several months to come. I’m talking, of course, about the excellent adaptation of Jules Verne’s Return To Mysterious Island (TMA Review) for the iPhone by Tetraedge games. And while it has since been surpassed by other titles in quality it still holds a well-deserved place in our App Store’s Best Adventure roundup. Well,  Return to Mysterious Island – Deluxe Edition has just been released for the iPad and surprisingly, it’s literally a completely different title, even developed by a different company.
