10 New App Store Games To Watch [Nov. 29 – Dec. 5]

The force is starting to be strong with the Star Wars universe again, as we’re seeing quite a number of games based on the popular sci-fi mythos grace the iPhone screen. This week’s release is Imperial Academy, and while it’s probably just a reskin of Ngmoco’s Eliminate, I’d personally rather play as a Storm Trooper in training than some generic space guy. Action-RPG fans have a lot to be excited about, including Com2us’ latest release Queen’s Crown.  4 weapon classes, 6 spell trees and a gem enhancement system make for some compelling anime hack ‘n slash.  If you’re addicted to Minecraft but sad that you can’t take it on the go, you might want to give Eden – World Builder a try.  And, for those who need gadgets to go with their gadgets there’s AR.Pursuit, a helicopter chase game that requires two players and also mandates that you each have an AR.Drone, a remote controlled helicopter that uses the iPhone as the controller. 10 New App Store Games To Watch [Aug 30 – Sep 5]

This week was a double home run for iPhone gamers, and I’m not sure which item is bigger news.  The fan favorite, I’m sure, is Mirror’s Edge (TMA Review), the long awaited “running with a purpose” game from Electronic Arts.  On the flip side is my personal interest of the week, Spider-man: Total Mayhem from Gameloft, a game that takes place in the Ultimate Spiderman universe and looks like it could be one of the best outings for the webbed wall crawler to date.  For budding space traders there’s Star Shipping Inc, the latest entry in the growing field of buy low, sell high space games to arrive on the iPhone.  Finally, RPG fans are in for a real treat with Rimelands: Hammer Of Thor (TMA Review), brought to you from the fine developers that created Ravensword (TMA Review).  Sadly there is no intriguing zombie related news this week, though I did finally get to try Zombie Infection from Gameloft, and I definitely recommend it.

It’s a cleverly disguised geometric puzzler that can tickle your brain for hours. Your mission? Divide shapes into equal parts in order to pass to the next level. Currently, there are 40 levels with more promised from Com2uS in the near future.

iTête à iTête – A mini interview with Mark Darin from Telltale Games

Adventure games are my passion, as many of you may have guessed a long time ago. And when I heard that Telltale Games, the company responsible for such great iPad titles as Sam & Max Episode 1: The Penal Zone for iPad and Wallace & Gromit The Last Resort for iPad, are developing a completely original series in Puzzle Agent, I was thrilled. Thankfully, after a bit of back-and-forth with the developers, I was able to secure a mini interview with Mark Darin – the mastermind behind the new project.
