I think actually, that it is closer to the latter as it is a far cry from a deep role playing game. Actually, I'm having real trouble finding where the role playing comes in. Fun fun fun and definitely the best 3D RPG at the App Store, but not a deep RPG nor much of an RPG at all. Still, I've had so much fun watching gnolls swim, bandits take it up the cake hole, and the strange (and meaningless) day to night cycles. Really, if your character never gets cold and no one ever sleeps (or does anything at all), why have day to night cycles?
Chiffan was right, Aralon does deserve a grab, but not so much as an RPG, but a technical feat on the iDevice. It is the most fun I've had in a long time and I am thankful for the leap forward in technology, if not in the game itself.
It needs a few fixes:
-respawning monsters is tiresome
-it is possible to loot monsters whilst attacking others - this can get you killed. fix this
-day to night - currently it is just a gimmick. I'd like to see it used with schedules and night missions and the like
-day-night cycles come too fast
-you cannot really 'explore' as you bump into things very easily that keep you from moving
-I'd love to be able to jump
Thanks devs - this one is a winner!
