The truth is that it ISN'T perfect, but that I have played days and days of it recently. I think it went free for a bit and I jumped. I play mostly on my iPad, but also on my ageing (and almost dead) iPod touch 2G. It has some interface issues, is missing large swaths of original gameplay, and turns wars on too easily. It misses the small things like engineers, building railroads, mines, etc., but...

Despite these 'where are you's', it is the best game on my iPod/iPad today. Am I lucky I got it at FREE or 99 cents? Yes, but I'd still be playing too much of it had I spent the full 7$.

Any other Civilization Revolution fans out there?

I paid the full price for the iPhone app,and when I got my iPad Civ Rev was one of the first apps I got.

Though I must say that the iPad version has spoiled me. On a recent cleaning spree I got rid of all my unused apps on the iPhone, and Civ was one of them. I just couldn't bring myself to play it again on the inferior iPhone version.

Other than that, Civ is maybe the best example that there can be great full fledged games on the iDevice and not everything has to be a crappy casual game. In fact, the original Civ 4 would have worked on the iPad like a charm, while the dumbed down "Revolution" is perfect for the iPhone. I keep my hopes high that there will be a full port of Civ 5 for the iPad.

I'm a long time Civ player, but haven't enjoyed Civ 5 or may not if it's not out yet. The iPad version is my next buy, but at 12,99$, it is pretty steep. We'll see if I can get that far.

if i recall correctly, you got me playing the series again (Civ 3) on my PC quite a few years ago. Civilization 4 is still my favorite in the franchise, though the slimmed down Revolution is still pretty awesome.

And yes, the game is wicked fun on the iDevice...Once I get a scenario going on my iPad, it ain't easy putting it down (in fact, it's damn hard)

I do agree with Nineswords that the original (and full fledged) Civ 4 on the iPad would work like a charm.

Yeah, I agree it would work, but to tell you the truth, I get tired of ... you know assigning auto jobs to engineers, upgrading things, etc., even on a computer. I'm sure the iPad could handle a simplified-look, full game version of Civ V or IV, but to Tell the truth, I'd not want to play it.

Last week, I started and finished three games in one day... ouch!
