Default Galaxy on Fire 2 screenshots and info

For all you space shooter fans out there (looking at you Nineswords), we received some updated info from developer FISHLABS on the upcoming Galaxy on Fire 2. The game is looking like it's coming along beautifully and the iPhone 4 screenshots below look fantastic. We're expecting the game to be leaps and bounds better than the first (see our review), which is really saying something.

We'll pass on more updates as they're made available.

Eagerly awaited by fans and the iPhone™ press, the sequel to the epic outer space adventure starring mercenary Keith T. Maxwell is finally in the beta stage for the iPhone™. Both the iPhone™ and iPad™ versions, which will appear simultaneously in October of this year, will be introduced to trade visitors at gamescom in the Business Center Hall 4.2 Booth M034 at the gamecity:hamburg joint booth.

Along with an extreme revision of the graphics and a complete redesign, Galaxy on Fire™ 2 is also in a whole new league in terms of sound. A unique theme for each of the four factions in the game has been composed for scenes in spaces and on the space stations. In addition, special compositions have been mixed for battle scenes, now reflecting the intensity of the individual combats. Thanks to the use of 3D sound, all of the sound effects are more vivid and sudden attacks can be acoustically located. A detailed look at the sound production is provided by Gero Goerlich, Sound Director at Fishlabs, in the Developer Diaries Part 4 – The Sound of Galaxy on Fire™ at the company’s blog. Jan Werkmeister, Managing Director of the Hamburg-based Periscope Studio, who is responsible for the music composition, also has something to say in an interview.

‘Thanks to the possibilities in graphics and sound offered by the iPhone, we are now able to produce Galaxy on Fire™ 2 as cinematically as we have always wanted to,’ says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. ‘We are convinced that Galaxy on Fire™ 2 will become the new benchmark in terms of sound, graphics, and depth in gameplay for premium games on the iPhone and iPad.’

I just really hop it will be better than the first one. I was completely disappointed by it.

How come? It was one of the bast games at that time on the app store in my opinion.

At that time - maybe But as a game in itself - I found the controls too awkward and the gameplay too boring. On the other hand I only like open-world space sims, like the Privateer or the X series on the PC. Others just fail to keep me interested.

The game opened up after the initial few quests, but that wouldn't help with the controls if you didn't like them.

The controls are hard to get on with, but the game, as Nine said, is pretty good - especially for the time. I do have hopes for the new one of course.

It's out now for a introductory price.

I just played the first two missions and have to say that the graphics look somewhat bleak. I hope they're getting better a bit later in the game. Also there is supposed to be a free universal update with Hires graphics for the ipad in the comming weeks.

Every conversation is voiced (so far) but I'm missing any score. Maybe a bug or the game hasn't one.

Controls are typical virtual stick and workokay, even though the auto targeting area could be a bit larger for my conveniance. I'll try tilt controls later.
