Default Before the iDevice, what phone/DAP did you carry? More than one? Be honest

It might sound archaic, but I have only owned a mobile phone 3x. Once in Canada: Some horrid LG Wine pay as you go and two Japanese mobiles. None were good.

The Japanese phones were very hard to use. I had two 15 year olds - the type of person who is all about mobiles - try to find my email address and after 5 minutes, they both gave up. The iPhone ostensibly simplifies many things, but makes some more complicated.

Before owning the iPod touch 1G, I had a Cowon D2 for music playback and before that a Meizu M6 and before that, Minidisc. I was stoutly against the iPod as I thought it sounded rubbish and was for sheep. Now, I love it and realise that Cowon's marketing tactics are completely shepherding.

I have always used a pay as you go phone because its cheaper per month than any plan(obviously I don't use it much!). It does allow me to Twitpic crappy pics though so it has that going for it. I began my iPod experience with a 2g iPod shuffle I found while walking the dog. Moved on to a 2g 8gig iTouch about a year ago but it filled up too soon so that went to one of my sons as I bought a 2g 32gig iTouch. That one died in a brief trip in what was supposed to be a waterproof rain jacket pocket about 1 month ago. Enter the 3g 32gig iTouch, the replacement 2g 32gig going to my other son.

Funny thing is my cheap phone survived 2 washer/dryer cycles and my pricey iPod didn't survive a wet pocket....

Oh ya- I'm a PC as the commercial goes (with an Apple logo sticker in my truck window)

I had a Pantech Matrix phone and a Dell Mini 9 netbook (which is horrible imo).

So I'm SO thankful I have my ipod touch G3 because it's a pocket computer literally for me. I have all my powerpoints from school on here and it doubles up as a gaming device and my music player, too.

I don't know what I would do without one now.. honestly, I can't imagine myself without one! (which is pretty horrible haha but oh well)

I went through a couple of Nokia phones and a Sony Ericcsson Z600 as the last step before the iPhone 3G

For music I went with a Sony Minidisc player for a long time before finally getting an iPod Shuffle Mini which I adore since it works of a single charge for a couple of weeks.

Which shuffle is that ChiffaN? I had the 1G and 2G Shuffles. The 1G (plastic) had the best sound quality, but I don't think a single one of them got that long of battery life!

I had a bunch of phones with limited build in smatphone capacities (ie. simple calendar). The first phone i had that was able to run code was the Nokia E65. After that I got my first 2g Iphone. Now I'm on a 3GS.

I'm currently using a Nokia 6680 (a graduation gift) and a Nokia N73. Previously I had the old school Nokia 3310 and also had a Nokia 3200. Waiting to get an iPhone once I start working.

I've had a few crappy mp3 players that cost about 1/10 of my 16GB 2G iPod Touch. Those mp3 players never did survive beyond the 6th month!

Wow, the only player I've had trouble with (aside from a 1G Shuffle) is the Meizu M6 which just stopped working altogether. Bugger that one.
