Default Will the 1st Gen. iPod Touch eventually lose support from Apple?

I'm the proud owner of a 1st gen ipod touch, and I'm concerned that it will eventually lose support from Apple in the form of firmware updates. I've faithfully paid $10 here and there along the way to update to the latest 3.1 firmware. Now that the ipad is coming, I'm thinking there focus will be on the ipad and iphone support with free updates, but that the older gen items will be left in the dust. What are your thoughts?

Eventually. But not in the near future...

That's what I was hoping. I'm too cheap to invest in a 3rd gen touch right now

My guess is they will eventually end support for the old in hopes of selling new. Isn't it also a matter of whether app developers support 1st gen?

Yes. A few developers have already moved away from 1st gen. There have been a few games I couldn't download because they required a 2nd gen ipod touch.

It might but I don't think that's fair. It makes me glad I didn't buy 1g.

When the battery goes, I'm definitely getting a new one, haha

I'm keeping tabs on that. I still test all the apps I develop on a 1st gen iPod Touch.
