Magazine iPad Ads a Hot Commodity - via Cult of Mac

Insanity: Time magazine has sold adverts for iPad publication costing 200 000$ and other publications such as People and the Wall Street Journal aren't far off.

So what does this mean? Well obviously, the iPad has a large following among publications who bank on a literate iPad customer base. With 8-10 million units expected to be shipped in 2010, the possibilities for a floundering publishing industry are huge, especially if early ad spaces fill up with long-term customers.

What the iPad will do for publishers is create a brand new content delivery platform: there aren't others yet; sure computers deliver interactive content, but most of it is mouse-driven and platform-independent. This iPad Advert push is really new and in some ways exciting. But, I can imagine that this new cash cow will plague users too: annoying popups, poor delivery, and dirty things which fall in just as has happened at the App Store.

New content always means new ways to run foul in distribution. Let's hope for all our sakes that the advert business takes off in the best of ways.
