Was not expecting this, but here are some shots of the ALO (Audio Line Out) Sony line out dock. It is very good if you are stuck with the Sony A845 A846 or A847 which hiss, have pretty poor clicking noises in the background and which need a good amp to deal with hard to drive balanced armature earphones.

I love the A845, but it ISN'T worth its asking price, not at all!

The EQ works pretty well (about as well as the A828), but has a couple of soft spots and there doesn't seem to be a TEST mode, or if there is, no one has sussed it out yet. I'll surely be all over this thread like Oprah on a cupcake, but it will take me a little time to figure out if this badboy is worth keeping, or if it will be sold.

Its build quality is pretty poor in comparison to the A828 and even the S636 which I sold long ago. Worse, the Fuze 1 or 2 is better built and of course, the iPod touch is leagues ahead. Sony dropped the ball here... very badly.

The ALO line out bends very nicely and is short, so keeps the A84x pocketable. A good amp lowers the hiss to almost nothing and what I used with the A828 (a mini to mini cable) isn't a real option with the A84x series for those who value SQ because of the low level clicking noises which an amp can pick up on when fed from the headphone output. LOD it is with this badboy.
