    Default wi-fi/bt games

I have a number of wi-fi/bt games on my iTouch. Games don't always locate the other player in the same room via either type of wireless. How can one tell what the source of the problem is ? Game, my router, iTouch?

can't say i've had this problem before. isolating the issue could be tricky, as it can be a number of things like you say. My suggestion would be to try out two different games that have multiplayer via wifi. If both games don't locate the other player, then it is possible that it is your router. If only one of the games if able to locate and the other doesn't, then it probably is the software itself.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to check the apps out methodically. Right now I'm thinking the wi-fi/bt success is hit and miss but I could be wrong.

That's a good question. There's some games that I can get on quickly using wifi, and others that don't work. You could periodically reset your router by unplugging it for a few seconds and then plugging it back in. That works for me sometimes. Routers and wifi are somewhat over my head. I did good just to get mine working.

You should also try reducing the distance between the two iDevices you're trying to use, sometimes routers interfere with other electronics nearby reducing the signal for computers, iDevices, etc. Same goes for Bluetooth, just try to reduce the distance and see if it works then.

Except for some misc. drops B/T seems O.K. Wi-Fi off and devices next to each other. B/T off, Wi-Fi on and the problems start. I'm beginning to think it is my router or it's settings. My investigation continues... Need to find a local place with Wi-Fi to test things with a different router.

Perhaps you can try highlighting which apps you are using? For wi-fi, possibly your wi-fi connection drop, hence the disconnection.

Are you receiving your wi-fi signal on your idevice ? How strong is the signal? Are there objects blocking the distance between you and the router?
I work in an office with high cubicles and wi-fi signals isn't very good.

Thanks to all who offered up ideas to help me figure this one out. Turns out it was my D-Link router settings that prevented multi player. I still am not sure why it was hit and miss in terms of connectivity. D-Link customer service had me change a few settings and it seems to be reliable (for now?). Not sure I would buy D-Link in the future.
