I use mainly use Echofon for Twitter and there are certain words that I only use in Twitterville and these gets added to my dictionary. I'll try the Safari method the next time I use it.

Yes, but with the cursor trick you can do this on the spot without leaving your app in order to change it in the settings.

Yes, this is what I meant. Sometimes you just want to type something and not be bothered.
It's not a great tip, but just something fun to know.
