Hifiman HM601 RMAA and Square Wave tests

I've got a badly broken arm, so this is going to take some time getting up (TWSS).

Overall: if you don't mind audiophile marketing and trickery, this is one of the best, or best audiophile players. Beware that it isn't a stellar performer (very few audiophile players are), but with the right earphones and in the right mood, it sounds great. It is noisier than any modern iPod, but not as bad as a Sony or a HiSound player.

It is less a pain to use than is the Teclast T51, but has enough draw backs to make me wonder why anyone would use it as a main player:

• No gapless
• Feeble codec support
• ID3 tag problems up the wazoo
• Horrid main menu system
• Bad song selection method
• 8-hour battery
• Not very good low Ω earphone driving engine

First, the RMAA test (hopefully labelled correctly). HM601's hardware tests were done by matching volume to -4,5dB on my Edirol FA66 with a calibration signal (made in Audacity), then played back into Sound Studio 3 (OSX) and finally hand matched (square waves) as I haven't any professional software at my disposal. RMAA was also calibrated in the same way (and always is) and read by Windows 7.
