Skies of Glory
I'm surprised that Skies of Glory hasn't been reviewed here. It's an action packed WWII themed flyer with missions and dogfights. The graphics and audio are some of the best I've experienced on the ipod touch. The bullet/machine gun sounds are so realistic. I think the only drawback is that it starts out as a freemium app. However, yesterday they came out with Skies of Glory - Battle of Britain (6.99) which includes all of the mission packs, plus 4 or 5 additional planes that you can unlock as you pass missions. I'm really getting into the mission aspect of it. The online multiplayer is great too, but don't expect to be very good to start with. There are guys on there with 100,000+ kills. Going through all the missions and unlocking the better planes will give you more of an advantage when you step your foot into the online multiplayer pool.
Are there any other players on the boards here?
It's from the same guys that created F.A.S.T., which I didn't liked a bit.
It's kinda sad because I loved Pacific Strike on the PC back in the days. (Anybody know the Roberts brothers and can give them a call that I want the commander series on the iPhone)
This ones a little easier to play. F.A.S.T. wasn't good for me either.
Well, the first and main reason for that is there being a FREE version available - so people can download and check it out at their own leisure. We've got more than enough titles to review that would require a customer to pay up.
I played the free version a bit yesterday before going to bed, but I still didn't like it. I give it another try later today and see if I like it better when I'm not tired, but I guess in this game it hold true to the same curse of every other game with tilt controls: I don't like it.
Would they give me a really broad auto targeting zone this wouldnt be a problem at all but targeting or maneuvering as it is right now is too cumbersome for my pleasure. The part I don't get is why devs today doesn't do this? I mean Magic Carpet nailed it ten years ago.
