I live in Asia but I have a US iTunes account for the past two year. As I do not have a US issued credit card, my only means of reloading my iTunes credit is by redeeming gift cards. However, these gift cards are costly, they are being sold at about $25 for a $15 gift card. I tried purchasing the gift card directly on iTunes but my transaction did not go through as I do not have a US credit card.

Does this happen to everyone else outside the US? Would love to know how to go around this little problem (especially since TMA featured some very interesting paid apps!)

I don't know how else you could go about that except to have a friend in the US help you out.

Yes, that's a tricky question. I don't know how to get around that. I just set up a Great Britain account a month or so ago to take advantage of free apps and tunes only. I just haven't tried to get an itunes card from there. Don't know how that would work. It's tricky enough trying to sync content from two countries back to your itunes.

maybe you can look for sites that sell iTunes cards at a cheaper price - if you have paypal maybe you can use that to purchase it. i also live in asia and the reseller here sells the GCs at a high cost for the amount, but i found an online seller who sells them to me at a much cheaper price.

I supposed the best way is to get a pal to get me the code (I don't need the CG itself) or hunt for a site that will send me the code. There was once a site that did that, selling the CG at cost price but they have closed don't. AH, Apple and their policies, I supposed! :D

Thanks for your responses, by the way. :)

I buy my GC codes from him:

I'm not sure if he accepts international payments because he's based in the Philippines and Hong Kong - maybe you can ask him about payment options. :) in philippine currency, he offers a pretty fair price for his GCs. :)

A friend of mine tried using paypal, but it does not work. Paypal message is that for iTunes, you must have US credit card.

My advice is to buy cards from ebay and have the seller email you the code.

Wow, this is a great thread. When this gets sussed out, I may move the information to the front page to help out people looking for this information. I also live in Asia, but I am Canadian and from time to time, would love to redeem stuff from the US store. Actually, I really wish there was international access to other stuff. I'd love to buy from the Japanese store as they get pretty much everything the Canadians get (well, not the TV shows and small artists) and a lot of the US stuff too. No movies, but who cares?

Any recommended seller?

No, just check that he sends codes by email and that he has strong feedback, preferably that he is top seller

You shouldn't have any problem as long as credit card has visa or master logo.
