A pretty cool thought off the top of fury.com's Kevin Fox: the missing apps in the iPad demo were actually none other than... indication that apps may make it as widgets - a short way to do more than one thing.

According to Fox, the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad look like this (sorry for the mess):

3GS Touch iPad

*The Touch splits iPod into two apps: ‘Music’ and ‘Video’. The iPad splits it into ‘iPod’ and ‘Video’

It would be interesting if it did run widgets. Less clutter on the screen.

I agree. This would go a long way to handling some of the multitasking concerns. Now if the widget functionality (not the UI) could also be coded to perform like services with API that can be invoked by an app, that would be great! Apple could even "approve" services for basic functionality for sharing between apps.
