The iPhone 3GS is capable of playing back Hi-Def content (http://www.touchmyapps.com/2009/07/13/hi-def-video-playback-on-the-iphone-3gs-is-real/), that isn't the question. The question comes in two parts; first: why would Apple hide the fact that the 3GS CAN playback HD content (http://www.touchmyapps.com/2009/08/25/iphone-hd-more-hi-res-evidence-emerges/)?

And...

What about 'Hi-Def' screens in future models? The iPad is already disrupting the solemn App Store by encouraging the use of a more spacious screen, but dear me... an 'iPhone HD' with a rumoured 960*640 screen (http://www.touchmyapps.com/2010/03/30/iphone-4g-to-have-quadruple-the-pixel-count-960x640/)? Either the thing is going to grow to Android sized proportions, or it will come packed with reading specs for the rest of us.

What thinks you pollywogs? Why did Apple hide the fact that the iPhone 3GS CAN play HD content? Are they meaning to pull the wool in front of our eyes in order to reveal a 'new feature set' with the new hardware?
