Here are my grievances:

Terrible battery life
No multi-tasking
Cannot remove preinstalled apps
Customizable options are few, unless I jailbreak

1. No Flash support
2. Can't create Playlists except for the On-The-Go (have to rename the on-the-go once it syncs back to the Mac).
3. Crappy ear buds supplied with it

the biggest piss-off is in minor things... Like, there's a phone nr. on the website. I hold my finger on that, and get the list of options, like "call", "add contact" - everything, except COPY!
- The maps.app will SURELY clear cached maps when you need them most!
- No way to see the phone nr in the recent calls - tapping will call them.
- Very hard to remove a phone nr.
- No multitasking...
- No way to switch off GPRS (you can switch off 3G, but iphone will still sip data, only at lower speed)
- Annoying vista-like messages (i.e. "blahblah would like to use your location)
- Many, many, many more annoying things...

Here's my list:

Battery could be better
No multitasking
Can't hide certain apps (stock, notepad) without jailbreaking
Can't program side volume rocker for things like screen brightness or moving between pages on springboard
Camera for iPhone 3G

Re: 3gen iTouch -
Lack of battery life first , then the native apps which I am forced to keep.

I don't see the problem with the battery life. If you are talking about for games, sure I understand, but there isn't a single phone or device like the iDevice out there which has good battery life. My iPod touch plays music for over 30 hours - that is amazing.

But, I don't like about my iPod touch 2G:
1. cannot remove native apps
2. Horrid/unusable EQ system

If anything.. the #1 thing I wish they'd improve would be BATTERY LIFE. I carry around my charger because there's no way I can last without one.

I'd love it we could delete preinstalled apps too.. like stocks.

And the music playlist.. or lack of, really fails.

Like almost everyone else, my main problem is the battery life. I carry around my charger and a car charge for emergencies.

Lacks the ability to multitask, edit playlists, no flash and I wish the built in speaker is louder (my alarm doesn't seem to be loud enough!). Also, the touch screen sometimes looses its touch sensitivity and need to tap a few times.

And the lack of a camera on iPod Touch!

You can actually. Open Recent calls and instead of tapping on a number tap the ">" on the right - it will take you to the contact screen with the number that called you highlighted in red.

I personally hate how ergonomically incorrect this device is, making playing for longer than a few minutes painful!! :(

Actually, auto-rotate is something I really hate.

Imagine laying down to read your favourite website. If you are not on your stomach or your back with hands in the air, everything goes sideways. Auto Rotate toggle ON/OFF needs to be added to firmware - I really hate this part.

You're totally right! I can never lie down on my back as I browse the web or use an app on my iPod Touch. It's awful.

When I was first playing around with the iPhone I really wondered why I cannot rotate the screen with a two finger rotation gesture. The entire UI feels natural: from swiping, over flicking to pinch/zoom. Thats why a 1yo can use the iDevice. A rotating gesture to rotate the screen when autorotate isn't appropriate would have fit into the whole experience like a glove.

Increase the number of pages or let us have folders to put the apps inside. Too many apps becomes too cluttered in both Ipod touch and iPhone.

Better centre button that does not lose the sensitivity.

1) battery life - not enough for games!
2) restarting when there isn't enough RAM
3) no folders for organizing apps

aidan_ree

1. It takes a long time to sync multiple applications
2. Cannot organised apps properly
3. Size limitation for downloads using 3g

The battery life on my 2nd gen iPod touch doesn't bother me that much because I have chargers pretty much everywhere I go.

What bothers me is:
* Lack of multitasking (so slow to switch between apps so I often miss out on entering free app codes. ;-)
* Inability to remove certain stock apps which I NEVER use
* Lack of unlimited pages and the inability to delete apps directly on the iPod from the spotlight search
* The slowness/freezing of iTunes for Windows when dealing w/ large numbers of Apps
* The lack of a built-in microphone and/or camera

Really looking fwd to July when I finally purchase my first iPhone!

I think what really makes me sad about this thread, and pretty much everyone has great points and can't argue any of them as valuable additions, is how easy it would be for Apple to already have implemented all of them!!
Rather than adding one new thing with each device, all of these could have been added a long time ago....
But then again, how else would they make you upgrade on a yearly basis?

For such an "innovative" company, they certainly know how to milk the innovation over years and years....

I hate that my iPod Touch is getting more obsolete by the day, but I don't want to plop down another $300 at the moment :)

My two main problems (and I'm not sure which one is more of a bother) is the lack of ability to organize into folders (or the restriction of 11 pages - I could struggle without folders if this would go away) and the inability to easily back up save files for games.

juubee
02-08-2010, 12:49 PM
and the inability to easily back up save files for games.

Well, if you know where iTunes puts all your game files.. you could move it onto an external drive or usb drive or even put it on a separate gmail account (tons of storage) so that you'll never lose it.

And I'm not sure if you know this but...
say for example you buy Doodle Jump -- $0.99. And you delete to delete it or lose it or whatnot.

You can always go back to the app store and purchase it again, except it won't charge you.
It'll just say you've already bought this item, click ok to download it again.

I'm not sure how it works for games that you purchased free and isn't free anymore or for apps that you got from promo codes (if anybody else knows, please share cause I'm curious).

update
after I posted this, I just re-read the quote and I totally misunderstood. you meant save files and not the actual files of the games. oops!

Yeah, I already keep backups of the games I like the most if I have to remove them so that I can avoid redownloading them from iTunes. Of course, if they get updated after I remove them then I have to redownload anyway, but oh well. I just hate getting part way through a game, having to remove it, then having to start over again if I decide to reload it. Or worse yet, switching from an ad-hoc build to the "real" version and losing all my progress.

But that's not the device's fault :) Actually, I'm in the same boat. Of course, for as often as I think I'd like to have a 16 GB device, I then think about the fact that I'd be able to install way too many apps that I can't see because of the silly 11 page limit. So, I'm mildly content with my 8 GB of storage right now.

Omg 8gb and 16gb. I'm one that buys ample amount of space but never get to use it. (32gb here)
The smaller space would drive me nuts ahaha

Well, I got my iPod Touch for a gift, and honestly wasn't even expecting to get one despite all my hints, so I didn't want to push it with a more expensive model.

Won't it be better if we can add addition memory space? My 16GB is inadequate, my audio + apps already takes up about 10GB.

Space is always an issue. I guess no matter how big they are, eventually I will somehow fill them up and lament about not enough storage.

True, but I seem to spend a lot more time trying to recycle space on my iPod than on any other device I've had with installable software. Of course, that could be because it's the most software I've ever had for any such device :)

Hello there, first of all, I would love to ask. What does it have to do with the problems people face in their iPhones have to do with your interests? I don’t see how it is related. Anyways, I didn’t purchase any of the Apple’s products yet. The reason for not doing so is that, iPhone and iPad does not support FLASH content on the phone. It makes using the internet less convenient as some contents are only available in flash.
