I was wondering what the favorite videogame genre of iDevice users is.

On the PC and consoles it's pretty clear what dominating genres are but I can see in my own gaming behavoiur that I tend to play different kinds of games on the iDevice than I like to play on the PC or consoles.

I am fully aware that it isn't always easy to differentiate between genres since many games are a blend of two or more.

And while we're at it, let's discuss if you like it when iDevice games try to copy existing genres without proper adaption to the device? Personally I have the strong feeling that FPS controls just doesn't work for me on the touchscreen. Another example would be Secret of Monkey Isle and Broken Sword. While the first is a example of horrible touch controls, the other is the poster child of a great and thought through adaption to the iDevice. I really don't like games that just try to copy a control scheme from a completely different platform and force it on the touchscreen. I hope Lucasarts copys Broken Swords controls for their next releses and FPS games find something different then simply putting onscreen sticks on the screen.

Your thoughts? Ready. Set. Discuss!

*edit* I know there are more genres but the maximum number of option for polls is 10. Use "Other" instead and tell us what genre you meant in the thread.

My very very very favourite (as most of you probably guessed already) are definitely classic Adventure Games :)

I've been playing mostly the mob/vampire type games, though the puzzle games are quite addictive. MYST was ported over very nicely!

I've never really been a "favorite" kind of guy. I have a mix of genres installed and I just play what feels fun at the moment. Pinned to one though I chose puzzles as that genre is well represented on my iTouch. 'Lots' of time right now also goes to "Karnival" and "PvZ".

Classic Adventure Games.

The Secret of Monkey Island...Beneath A Steel Sky...

Really, all they have to do is figure out how to get a port of "The Longest Journey" down to a manageable file-size and I can die a happy man.

Strategy and Puzzle genres seem to be the leading ones in the appstore.

I personally like Strategy and Action-Adventure. Simulation isn't too bad either.

I really love classic adventure games (but haven't been able to review any), but hope for flight sims like Privateer and so on. Of course, however, I love a good RPG and I am very glad the App Store has a lot of them.

Okay, typo then...

While I wasn't a fan of the first game, Dreamfall is in my top 5 list of the best stories in videogames.

Adventure games on the idevice isn't my thing. I like them on consoles.

But I do love tower/line defense games. And time management.

That's quite strange; each person I know to have played TLG and Dreamfall has concluded that Dreamfall is the lesser of the two.
You really liked the story in Dreamfall more than that in TLG?

@ Juubee - have you tried Broken Sword / Beneath a Steel Sky on the idevice yet? They have a revolutionary interface designed specifically for the idevice that really seamlessly integrates that touch feature into the game in a way that allows the game to be enjoyable again and not a chore.
