I used to have app crashing issues after downloading apps, but I haven't run into that problem for a long time. I rarely reboot.

Several times a month, usually every week, since I install a lot of apps. On daily basis I use sbs settings to free memory

I reboot about once a month. There's no need as I use my iPod Touch constantly.
Respringing, however, I do about every other day.

I reboot after each installation, so could be almost a daily affair.

I reboot daily mostly because of precaution (safety issue). I'm on a MacBook Pro, btw. I've read of cases of MacBooks waking up from sleep by themselves in people's bags/cases and then overheating. While that might be a problem only for earlier generation models, I'd rather not take the risk so I shutdown whenever I move between places, unless it's for a presentation or something that I know I'd need an 'instant-on' wake.

I rarely reboot. If there are problems, I consider it, but generally, it isn't a problem. When I am testing amps and headphones, I reboot because the iPhone/iPod touch can build up a memory for headphones which cause problems.

It is sometimes better to reboot to clear some residue memory.

Whoops, shoot. I was talking about rebooting my laptop, not my iPhone. Misread the topic. I actually hardly reboot my iPhone. :)

Can you explain that? I have the feeling my headphones has become quieter since I got them. Could this be due to this or am I just getting deaf?

If I have apps that start crashing or I get a dropped call or things just start to seem to take too long to load, I'll restart it. With the latest OS update it's not nearly as often as it was when I got the phone.

If I have an app that crashes or I notice a tremendous amount of stuttering, I'll reboot the device.
I think its ridiculous that the recommendation is to reboot the device every time you install a new app.
On my windows PC I hardly evr reboot when I install a new program and it works just fine.

Apple needs to find a way to do memory allocation better, or make rebooting a whole lot faster, it takes way too long on my 2nd gen iPod Touch.

I switch off the iPhone when I go into the cinema. Realistically, I could change to airplane mode but figure since I have no connection, might as well shut it off - this way I get several reboots per month (roughly the rate I go to see movies).

Otherwise, I rarely reboot unless some app stalls in a bad way, which hasn't happend it a while (fingers crossed).

By the way, I'm using 3G.

I do it several times a Week/Month..

You can't keep a Device in working condition for long hours and expect it to function properly, Freeing memory is secondary.

Only as needed, usually amounts to about once a week or so.

I restart mine about twice a day but not because I want/have to, but because of Kingdom Game server timeouts but they should be fixed now lol. now I might reset like once a week maybe? I restore whenever i need to which is usually around once a month because the keyboard starts to lag.in fact, it's starting to lag now. I'll restore later

Only after it starts misbehaving, which is quite often.

Me - I've started to reboot pretty often. Firmware 3.1.3 boots pretty fast (iPod touch 2G), so waiting isn't an issue. Install new software - reboot - done.
