I'm very exited for this one. It's one of my favorite casual games on the PC and I certainly cant wait to get my hands on it on the iPhone.

PopCap announced in a tweet (http://twitter.com/popcap_games) that they launch it next monday.

There's also a Trailer:

Thanks for the heads up nine. This is going to be an exciting release for sure. I too loved the PC version of PvZ and this will surely be a huge hit on the iPhone when released.

Is there a flash version to try? I've never heard of it, but sounds like it's popular.

YES!!!

Another PC game I love ported to the iPhone.
Up next, Audiosurf.

I'll believe it when I pry it from PopCap's cold, dead fingers via the app store.

They've been sitting on this for SO LONG and delaying it that I half expect it to come bundled with Duke Nukem Forever.

Here's a demo. But it's not flash. (http://popcap.com/games/pvz?lcid=1033&icid=plantsvszombies_HP_TOP10_2_A_07_01_08)

Maybe they release it with a iPhone emulator on the OnLive console. ;)

Anyway. Can't wait, can't wait.

After Peggle was released on the iphone, I understood the "addictive" factor of that game.
I tried the trial for PvsZ and just couldn't get into it. Everyone seems to be really excited for this release, but I just don't understand the amount of love for this game. What am I missing? Is it the fact it's like a TD game without the paths and I just can't change my expectations?
I want to like this game but can't help but feel underwhelmed when playing.
Anyone care to explain why this game is so great? I'm willing to listen and try to love it, maybe I just need some help.. :)

I can't wait for this. I've completed it twice on the PC, and yet I know I'll still buy it from the App Store - if it's not too expensive that is. It's my favourite casual game of all time... so far.

I have the same problem you have with PvZ with Peggle. It's nice and all but I cannot find anything addictive in it.

I would imagine (based on nothing but my guess), that it'll cost the same as Peggle which was $4.99.
I would also imagine that a few weeks later, when it's no longer #1, they'll have another "Peggle Sale" (as it's infamously known as) and drop it to $.99. You can quote me that I told you so first, when it happens. :)

That's too funny! And I guess that's why you love PvZ and I love Peggle. Just 2 different types of games for 2 different types of gamers I guess.
I can say for me, Peggle had that "one more time" effect, and was just a ton of fun to play...what does PvZ have for you then? ;)

It's like "Okay, what Zombie comes next*" and then you start gardening... don't get me started on the Zen Garden....

I guess I'll just have to hold out until they reduce it in price then. I've completed Peggle a couple of times too, but have no real wish to get this on my iPhone.

I think someone's just a bit obsessed with DNF :) Everyone should have known that with a name like "Forever" we'd never actually see the game!

It's out. For 2,39€. Which should be 2,99$ after apples strange conversion.

Anyway. I have to go now and get a few minutes of gaming before I have to sleep.

Speechless. I guess they managed to get it out.

Although (the barb must be set) it looks like they didn't have enough time to port ALL of it, eh?

I don't know. Looks pretty much like the pc version to me. Let's just see if all the unlockables are there.

I got mine this morning. It's £1.79 in the UK, which I think is pretty good.

It seems similar to the PC version so far, but doesn't appear to have all the extra modes, i.e. Mini-Games and so on.

But I did see a press release which said it had some additional features - not spotted them yet though.

I really like it!
I downloaded it this morning and I'm loving it.

Also, shouldn't this topic now be moved into the iPhone and iPod Touch Games Forum?
Is that how it is going to work for topics about games that have been released?

Actually, rather than moving the thread, I would be inclined to think this thread should be closed and a new one started.

NineSwords

I'd say moving threads would be the better idea. You normally have all the relevant info right there in the thread so moving it isn't only easier but it's also cleaning up the "upcomming" board.

Oh. and btw. I'm LOVING this game soooooo much I wanna take it to a cozy place and impregnate it.

From a historical aspect it's inaccurate, however. Besides, a lot of times an upcoming game thread has a lot of conjecture and speculation until someone actually involved with the game speaks up to set the record straight. To me it would make more sense to start a new thread that begins with "here's game XYZ, and here is the pertinent information about it." Of course, that's just me.

Maybe have some type of icon that signifies that the thread moved from here?

Anyway, has anyone digged themselves to China?

When you move a thread you can leave a link in the original board.

And yes. I digged myself to china :) Very funny. My kids liked the unicorn skeleton better though. Personally I'd like the zombie-worm the most.

#1 in ten countries
#2 in six countries
#3 in five countries
#4 in three countries
#5 in three countries.

And very high in a lot of other countries.

I think they have found themselves a winner!

There probably wasn't a whole lot of doubt about that in their minds. I'm pretty sure this has been one of their best sellers on the PC (though I have absolutely NO statistical data to actually back that up). I guess I'm going to have to break down and buy myself a copy of the game.

One of the advantages for Popcap is that they had such a following of the game prior to its release. Every other review I read talks about having "Played the PC version and loved it" Many buyers didn't have to wonder if they were spending bad money since they had essentially played the game already.

But there's never a guarantee that the portable version of a game will be the same as the full blown PC version. Now I'll grant you that we are talking about Popcap here, but as an example, have you ever played the Gameboy version of Commander Keen? We're not even talking about a technically challenging game, yet the portable version was horrible compared to the PC version.

Either way I've got my copy now (bought it last night) and I have very few preconceived notions since I haven't played the PC version. We'll see if it makes it onto my one page of "games I hardly ever delete from". Or maybe I'll have to start a second page just for PvZ :)

Whenever I see "PvZ" I just start thinking Starcraft. Jaedong vs. Bisu! Gogo!

In all truth, I'm just still agape at the fact that popcap actually released this game.
...it's pretty awesome, too.

I let my friends know about the game too and they all seem to love it. One friend wanted my touch to play while I left for class but that wasn't going to happen lol. Since I don't go anywhere without it.

Question: Does anyone end up taking advantage of the lawn mowers at the end of a level? Or does your plant setup work so well you do not need the mowers?

Thunderclaw

Don't you get coins for every mower that is untouched?
I still haven't and I'm up to the fog stages.
