Hey!
Just wanted to say that Gameloft's new racing simulator is out now!
Have any of you had time to try it out? Any first impressions? By looking at the trailer, it seems amazing. The only thing I dislike (without even trying it) about it is the cockpit view which is 2D and not very polished, according to me.

Here's an iTunes link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gt-racing-motor-academy/id347349895?mt=8
It's priced, $6.99.

It looks cool, but I haven't taken the plunge. I've got several racing games I'm working on right now, so I think I'll wait. If you decide to Take One For the Team, let us know how it is :)
I agree with mrholder. I have Real Racing, NFS Shift and Rally Master. Perhaps once one of them is finished.

I also have the games you mentioned, but I'm done with all of them and I want some more challenge. So I think that I may purchase this one. I have been sceptical to Gameloft's titles since my disappointment with Asphalt 5. But this one seems to be better and more polished.

This may perhaps be a bit off topic, but am I the only one who thought tilt controls would be perfect for the iPhone because of the accelerometer, but have hated every racing game as it just "doesn't feel right"?
The graphics look nice (other than the last screenshot where it looks like the car is not really grounded) but I just can't get over not feeling comfortable with tilt controls... Anyone else?

Yeah, I agree with you. But using on-screen buttons isn't an option (for me) either. The only racing game where tilt control feels right is Need For Speed : Shift. But what would be an option? I don't think Apple would add buttons on the iPod and iPhone, like the PSP.
I like the tilt controls with the in-cockpit view

I don't know what the other options are (I'll leave it to the devs since they make the big bucks! hehe), but I'm just saying I'm surprised how much I dislike the tilt controls when I would have thought they would be perfect.
I definitely like less the little steering wheel in some of the racing games on the iphone, and don't expect buttons to be added (though that could help my feeling of carpal tunnel and be able to hold the iphone/touch more ergonomically correct), but I just wish the tilting worked better...or felt more natural...

Have anyone noticed that the controls in Real Racing are changing when you're in the cockpit? Is it just me or is it that way?

Changing while in the same race? If "yes" is the answer than no, I have not noticed. I will pay more attention when I drive! :)
