You can upload Avatars - just go to Settings -> Edit Avatar

What's the difference between avatars and profile pictures?

The avatar is the 80x80 image you see within the threads. Profile pictures are slightly larger (current set up) and appears only in your actual user profile. Nice avatar btw :)

It's a standard .jpg or .gif file.

Hi Ron,

You can search on google "Create avatar free" or something along those lines. There are lots of sites out there that allow you to make your own for free. Or, you can use an image editor such as photoshop or gimp (free) to create a brand new avatar or customize/crop existing photos you may have.

For better or worse I have Gimped myself for the avatar. Thanks for the idea louis. Had Gimp for a few years but never experimented with filters.

Or you can google "free illustration generator'. Thats where I got my avatar done. :)

You're welcome Ron. Glad you finally got 'round to fiddling "Gimping youself" :) I've had it for a few years too, but still use Fireworks for most of my image editing.
