Platypus – A Fun iPhone Shooter made of Clay

Platypus is one of those titles that has had relative success, but it seems like not a whole lot of people know about the game. Having already been released on the PC, Mac, Smart Phones and the PSP, it has now found its way on to the iPhone. The one aspect that sets Platypus apart from other side scrolling shooters is that its entire world is created by clay. Anthony Flack, the game’s creator, painstakingly made every single element from a single lump of clay and photographed them with a digital camera. No wonder it is one of the most unique looking games out for the iPhone.

Tatomic – An Atomic Puzzler for the iPhone

Tatomic, developed by VGViews, may very well be one of the more addictive puzzle games you have yet to try out for the iPhone. Seemingly inspired by hit titles such as Lumines and Super Puzzle Fighter II, Tatomic successfully fuses several proven gameplay elements and adds some unique twists of its own. The premise of the game may already be familiar to those who have played enough puzzle games. Link similar colors together, clear them off the board and watch more combos come your way. Antimatter – A Big Bang for the iPhone?

Pangea Software is certainly no stranger to the iPhone gaming scene, with 6 games already available at the App Store. With the successful release of Enigmo under their belt, Pangea has once again released another physics based game in Antimatter. Unlike Enigmo though, Antimatter is a unique arcade game that resembles part pinball and part Geometry Wars. Rather than shooting everything up in sight, you must guide a streak of bright orange antimatter particles with your finger. Floating all around are ‘Cosmic Strings’ that light up the screen like a constellation map. With this antimatter, your job is to change the cosmic strings from a state of blue to a neon like orange by colliding the two together. Doing so will also add time to the clock. All the strings must turn orange before the timer runs out or else its game over.

Snail Mail – A Snail takes top spot on iPhone racers?

When was the last time anyone played a racing game with a Snail as the main choice of character or ride? Never? Almost never? That’s why when I first saw this game, I had no idea what to expect. Was I in for a “snail-paced” and boring racer? Or as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover? Even after just several minutes of Snail Mail action, I knew I had the answer to my question. Snail Mail is an amazingly fun and fast paced racing game for the iPhone.

Pyrus in Review – A Five Finger Word Game

Word games seem to be everywhere in the App Store. With so many of them in the market, developers have to try and distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack with new concepts or ideas. Pyrus certainly fits this bill as a word game with a unique twist. Here you are presented with a board of 5 scrambled letters where the player must form a word as quickly as possible before the timer runs out. Rather than the typical tapping or sliding around letters to build a word, Pyrus requires you to use up to five fingers in order to assemble your word. Touch and hold down your finger on each letter in the correct order and the letters you type will appear on the top of the screen. When you have spelt out the word, release your fingers from the board to have it submitted.
