I am a man of many moods. This is why I love the AppStore. I can find Apps that fit my current state of mind. One mood that has been seeing much rotation in my life is that of quietness. As I get older, I tend to find time to draw myself away from the fast paced, extreme themed, action oriented options that are out there and seek for simplicity and solitude. Wooden Labyrinth 3D goes a long way in enhancing those peaceful times.
It’s been a while since I’ve played any new games on the iPhone/ iPod Touch, mainly because I was still stuck with a few older games on the platform. That’s why I really didn’t know what to expect with Bobby Carrot Forever initially; I haven’t even heard of it before…
Glyphic Entertainment, LLC have added a unique arcade puzzler to the App Store with Geometrix: Flatland Unbound. Fast and furious, it is a great addition to the catalogue of games that Chillingo have brought to the App Store. For fans of Edwin A. Abbott’s novel, this game gains instant wuffie but fails when compared to the seminal literature.
Yes, here at Touchmyapps, we are dedicated to bring you as many reviews as we can. If it means I have to sacrifice myself and try every match 3 game, I will….for you! So, without further ado, let’s review another match 3 style game.
Right off the bat, this isn’t your mother (or father’s) match style game. We’re not shooting across, we’re not shooting up, we’re not even shooting downwards. We’re now tied on a string going around in circles matching the colored “blobs”. I have to admit that it took me a few games to wrap my head around this simple change to the genre, but once I got used to it, I really enjoyed it. This brought in a sense of excitement to the genre that I haven’t felt in a long time. It almost (dare I say it?) felt like an action game…
Match 3 puzzle games. What’s not to love right? Fortunately if you like them, unfortunately if you don’t, there are many many choices to be had in the App Store. Perhaps it’s the fact that these type of games seem to translate very well to the touch screen or it’s just a familiar and popular genre.
First, why don’t I explain what exactly a Tangram puzzle is. In a Tangram puzzle, you have a shape. This shape is actually comprised of a group of other shapes. In Tangram, you have seven pieces: Two large triangles, two small triangles, one medium triangle, a square, and a strange slanted rectangle piece. The key is to place and rotate these seven pieces until they form the shape that you’re looking for. So, now that you’re in the loop, let’s get to the review!
What can I really say about TanZen, other than this is a perfect puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. There is a lite version for you try out, but beware, if you’re going to try the lite version, chances are you’re going to upgrade to the full version.
To clarify, I’m no designer; I don’t have an eye for décor or what not; and to be honest when I heard that this game was “one in a series of design-oriented games…”, it didn’t really pump up my enthusiasm towards it. However, given that OSX iPhone platform had given rise to a new generation of applications, my curiosity got the better of me to take a look.
Fusion Development Group has recently released a unique puzzle/strategy game that could very well be the first of its kind at the App Store. Hexile is a fast paced “High-Low” tile-tapping game that will have you racing the clock and clearing the board of all stones. The premise of the game is simple: Tap the stone tiles in ascending or decending order to remove them from the screen before time runs out. While this may sound easy, Hexile is in fact a well designed game that will challenge all takers, especially as the game progresses.
Hiding away among the New section in the App Store is Granet Societe Cooperativa’s FindIT, an application which flaunts photographic faults in a spot the difference game. It makes no attempt however, to conceal its certain strengths: great photography, a wide selection of photos and a unique zooming system that will keep users engaged for hours in intricate gameplay.
