Dungeon Defense: Crypt Edition in Review – Tower Defense: The Undead Way

dungeondefense1Tower Defense has just gotten a very promising upgrade in the form of InMotion Software’s Dungeon Defense:Crypt Edition. This Tower Defense game has come out of seemingly nowhere. The graphically excellent game has a lot of TD fans excited with good reason but can it compete with the “big boys”  like Field Runners and the even newer ElementalMonster TD?

Virtual Villagers 2: The Lost Children in Review – Not for the ADD Prone

virtualvillagers2_1I had a puppy growing up. I have to admit that if it were not for my sisters’ constant attention and care for it, the puppy would have wasted away. (before PETA gets all haywire about this, the dog was very well cared for… by my sisters) Unfortunately for me, I quickly learned that I do not have the care of attention or the memory for Virtual Villagers 2. In a short while, the continually living populace of my village were facing stagnation, death, and decay. Despite my own failings, Virtual Villagers 2: The Lost Children is a faithful port of the original game with the same name.

Chocolatier in Review – Sweet App Goodness

chocolatier1Finally, another Time Management game to ease my new addiction…Phew, I feel better! Actually, Chocolatier, brought to us by PlayFirst is actually so much more than that. Sure, there is the time management aspect in terms of efficiently using your time (in this case travel), but at heart, it’s more of a tycoon/economic type game.

Circuit Defenders in Review – Anti-Virus With a Twist… or Tower

circuitdefenders_pic1It’s practically a right of passage for anyone that has ever owned a computer (unless you’re so cool that you’ve only ever had a Mac). One day you start to notice that your computer is running a lot slower than it used to. No matter how few programs you’re running, or how much disk space you free up, you swear there’s something going on in the computer. Oh yeah, the constant porn pop-ups are also a sign that something is definitely not right. So you download, buy, steal, or otherwise acquire an antivirus program, install it, and let it work its magic… but what exactly is it doing? The developers at Sector3 have an idea of what’s going on in there, and they made it into a game: Circuit Defenders.

Space Trader in Review: Light Years of Potential

space-trader-review-img_0037 space-trader-review-img_0038

Elite broke ground and Privateer sunk its teeth deep into the pockets of Space Trader fans around the world, but for the younger gamer, Freelancer and the X series will probably be familiar trader landmarks. Kechbs Software‘s Space Trader is the first of the genre to explore the App Store.

Supermarket Mania – Mayhem at the Supermarket!

supermarketmania5

Your local time management expert, Dave P. reporting for duty! You guessed it, I’m hard at work (or hardly working, depending on how you look at it) playing another time management game. Boy, I’m getting good at these!

For all those that follow my reviews religiously (big shout out to my wife), you’ll know that I’ve already reviewed a few time management games. The current game in review is Supermarket Mania by G5

Sentinel in Review – TD goes Sci-Fi!

One of the things I love about the app store is the sheer amount of choice.  Don’t get me wrong, some days I hate it as well also for that very same reason.  But, when you like a specific genre, such as TD games for example, it’s a nice place to be able to visit. Sentinel, by Origin8 is the latest addition to the TD bunch.  I won’t go into explaining TD games as it has already been done here at Touchmyapps in several reviews, but Sentinel brings in an element of science fiction and nice looking graphics which does add a fresh vibe.

geoDefense in Review – Tower Defense gets an Old Facelift

geodefense1It seems like vector-esque graphics are the new vogue. With the rise in popularity of games such as Vector Tanks and Blue Attack!, it was only a matter of time before developers brought this visual style to the arena of Tower Defense (aka) TD games. This seems a no brainer given the fact that one of the better Flash TD games out there is Vector TD, a TD game that is done in vector graphics. Yet, despite the fact that the TD genre has a growing number of entries and that vector graphics may one day be passe, geoDefense does make a strong case in justifying its presence in your iDevice and within the TD genre in general.

geoDefense blasts into App Store, $0.99

geodefense_release8 geodefense_release9

Update: Our review of geoDefense can be found here

Critical Thought Games has just released geoDefense, a new and exciting tower defense game for your iPhone/iPod Touch. Inspired by the critically acclaimed Geometry Wars, geoDefense offers high energy gameplay and great visuals.

Something exciting and new in the Tower Defense genre! The geometric vector creeps are fast and intense. With 30 different maps, each its own puzzle, you’ll have to work fast to keep up. Using exciting vectorized graphics, this highly kinetic games brings a whole new dimension to the tower defense. Devastate creeps with blasters, lasers and missiles and watch their energy debris swirl through the gravity wells of your vortex towers. Now it’s time to figure out how to put that absorbed energy to good use.

My first impressions of geoDefense is how challenging and fun the game is. Enemies move fast, so if you want to avoid a quick death, you really have to plan your tower placements and upgrade them accordingly. Unlike many other tower games, geoDefense allows you to play each of the 30 levels whenever you want, without the need to unlock them. I highly recommend you grab a copy while the price is still $0.99. Keep an eye out as we’ll be reviewing geoDefense in the coming week. [geoDefense, $0.99]
