Now that the App Store is running amuck more than ever with defence titles ranging from TD to space and now to Castle Defence games, hearty finger fighters should have many reasons to stay happily violent. Archmage Defense is a stunning game that shows how well the better part of a dollar can be well spent.
Unlike the Tower Defense genre, iDevice gamers have yet to be bombarded with RTS (Real Time Strategy) titles. Perhaps the most notable thus far are ‘Warfare Incorporated‘ – the first real RTS to hit the App Store, ‘Rise of Lost Empires‘ – Gameloft’s answer to a mobile Warcraft and ‘Ancient Tribes‘ – CDE’s sleeper hit that is suprisingly fun with deep gameplay. Now, you can add Javier Davalos’ Quantum Collapse to the mix of quality RTSes for your iPhone/Touch.
Quantum Collapse : The definitive Real Time Strategy game for the iPhone and iPod touch has arrived!
A TRUE RTS GAME FOR THE IDEVICE: Quantum Collapse is UNQUESTIONABLY the best RTS for the platform, providing hours and hours of unmatched gaming. The richly varied missions provide a unique encounter and environment for each level. Epic Battles, Hero missions, super weapons, units with unique powerups are just some of the detail you’ll find in Quantum Collapse.
Quantum Collapse does indeed look very promising and could very well be what RTS fans have been waiting for. Not only is the game on sale for the introductory price of $3.99, but Javier says that skirmish modes and multiplayer will make there way into future updates. TouchMyApps will be working on our review of Quantum Collapse shortly, so be sure to check back right here. In the meantime, whet your appetite with some impressive footage of Q.C in action while all hell breaks loose. Hells Yeah.
TouchMyApps is giving away 5 copies of the newly released TD game “Sweetwater Defense“. Developed by Wearbear Games, their first foray into App Store is a Tower Defense title with a pirate twist. Unlike the earlier hit 7 Cities TD (another pirate themed TD), WearBear’s entry features some “sweet” 3D graphics and a unique Rewind feature that will allow players to jump back to previous states of a map to try again. If the TD genre is your cup of tea and you enjoy dressing up as Captain Jack Sparrow every halloween, then Sweetwater is for you.
To win a copy of Sweetwater Defense, simply let us know what your favorite Tower Defense game(s) are on the iDevice and why. Winners will be selected randomly and the contest will close June 14th @ 11pm EST.

Out officially today, Defender Chronicles promises to mess you up with cleverly furious 2D Tower Defence action. We have already done a hands-on preview and a heads-up — we just cannot get enough of the next Chillingo release! Of course, for your reading and playing pleasure, we are ‘working’ on an in-depth review.
Gimka Entertainment (Chillingo), Defender Chronicles, 2.99$, 40.9MB
As has been mentioned before, Tower Defence is a crowded genre at the App Store – very crowded – and full of great games. When ngmoco announced Star Defense, a true-3D TD game to hit App Store shelves around June, an almost audible groan could be heard from many gaming fans who have tasted the best already and are wanting something different for dessert. Well, Star Defense is not just another TD, it is another TD that has enough new gameplay to warrant a new genre.
Ngmoco, Star Defense, 5.99$, 60.8MB
If you are a chess fan and an online voyeur, then Chess Online Pro may be for you. It has all the classic-ness of the board game plus a few extras that will make 2.99$ swallowable. Why is G5‘s game worthwhile? Well, other than puzzles, good AI, an easy-to-use interface and… wait, I’m spoiling the review!
Knights Onrush is a deceptive game. Its deceptively simple – defend your castle from waves of enemies trying to storm your gate. So in some ways, it’s your typical tower defense game. But at the same time, you are far more involved in the immediate defense of your castle in Knights Onrush than in similar games. It’s not just relegated to your placing defenses and letting them do their work – you have to actively deploy those defenses yourself. And that’s only one of the differences this game presents.
Another release, another potential hit on their hands. Chillingo, one of the most successful publishers at the App Store thus far, has just released Knights Onrush, a great looking ‘defend yer castle’ type game for the iDevice. Developed by MoreGames, who also brought you such hits as iDracula and Orions: Legend of Wizards, Knights Onrush looks to take on all current Castle Defense (CD) titles with its fun gameplay and vibrant visuals. Stickwars, the reigning CD champ at the iTunes box office with a great run at the Top 10, will certainly get a run for its money by the visually superior Knights. Jim will be pumping out our review of the game shortly, so stay tuned. In the meanwhile, check out some gameplay vids and features after the break.
Knights Onrush [$4.99]
This weekend I was given the opportunity to get my greedy little hands on Defender Chronicles by Gimka Entertainment, an app I’ve been looking forward to since I had my first glance at the gameplay video. In fact, when Louis emailed me asking if I’d like to write this piece for TMA I was excited, so much so that after out short discussion I would check to see if the developers had emailed me every hour or so and when I finally got it, I couldn’t load it onto my iDevice fast enough!
Pocket Tanks is a game that has been around in some shape or form since 2001. It’s available for the Windows and OSX platforms. As stated in the iTunes page, “Almost 2 million downloads from download.com alone (PC version).” With such a large fan base, a leg up in terms of gameplay refinement, and the staying power of 8 years of experience, (I know I’m going to get some flak for this) I’m surprised at how much I felt Pocket Tanks was lacking.
