GL Golf Deluxe in Review – Ugly, But Oh So Sweet + 2 Promo Codes

clgolf1GL Golf is like the first version of the hummer. It is boxy, obtrusive, and downright ugly. But like the car, it is one heck of a ride. Seriously, if you are like me and hate watching and playing golf in real life but thrill at the chance of virtually driving 300 yards off the tee, then this is your best bet (as of yet) on your iDevice.

Sportacular in Review : Sweet Sweet Fantasy Baby!

sportacular_pic1Don’t be upset that the picture above isn’t of Mariah Carey. Some guys (or girls) relate the word “fantasy” with visions of scantily clad vixens, but when I think of the word, it’s usually “I wonder how I’m doing in my Fantasy (insert sport here) Pool!!!” Having Sportacular helps me answer that question right away. Whether you’re a fantasy sports junkie, or just a sports junkie in general, Sportacular keeps you connected with all the sporting info you need while on the go.

Baseball Superstars 2009 in Review – Animelicious + 1 Promo Code Giveaway!

baseballstars1

It is no small statement to say that sports games contribute largely to a console’s success. In Apple’s bid to legitimize their iDevice platform to the same level as their portable competitors, this is one area that is, unfortunately, severely lacking. With less than a handful of fully fleshed out sports games, any addition to the app store is a welcome one and a huge step forward in cementing the iPhone and iTouch as the gaming system it has the potential to be.

Smack Boxing Lite Hits the App Store

smackboxing1Full Control ApS, the devs behind the iPhone’s first boxing game has released a ‘lite’ version of the light hearted and Punch Out like Smack Boxing. This free offering also coincides with the recent upgrade of the game to version 2.0, where a new career mode and a completely rewritten A.I awaits all challengers. Judging from the lite version, gameplay is rather intuitive, as you tilt left and right to move your boxer. Using the touch controls you, you tap the screen to jab, swipe left/right for hooks and upwards for an uppercut. There are also touch screen controls, where you simply tap the labeled buttons for the corresponding punches. If you enjoy boxing titles, try out the lite version here first. There’s a video of the game in action after the jump.

Downhill Bowling in Review – Mario-Kart meets Bowling

downhillbowling1Being from New Jersey, there’s something about bowling that stirs the soul. The sights, the smells, the horrifically colored shoes… they all appeal to he suburban part of my heart. The App Store has given us a few good games that seek to emulate this experience. They seek to translate the feel of the ‘lanes’ to a mobile experience. Downhill Bowling, though, strives for something far grander.

Bike or Die! 2 in Review: Have Fun and Die Trying

Die needs to be bigger...

Die needs to be bigger...

Excite Bike, California Games, Skate or Die… Bike or Die

Bike or Die 2.

It has been a long time coming but extreme bicycling from the comfort of your living room sofa or bus seat has landed at an iPhone near you. Bike or Die 2 is the follow up to Bike or Die for Palm OS that should doubtless be called, ‘Bike and Die’. It is 2500 levels of biking death that stretches the genre of physics simulators to new and bloody lengths.

A Ping Pong Threesome – Rubbers, Bouncing Balls and Fortune Cookies

gamepaddleballhitting20081230

Because I am a fan of the misunderstood sport of table tennis, I scoured the App Store for a good table tennis game. I’ve not found any yet, but the match has just begun. Three apps: Paddle Ball, iPingpong 3D and Zen Table Tennis caught my eye. Balls in hand, I will drive forth a looping comparison. For reference, World Cup Ping Pong has also been recently reviewed here!

Take a look at the above list. Are you reminded of those heady days of teenage rebellion? Do you look fondly on cursing, spitting, bleeding from falls, running from the fuzz and beating up roller bladers? If so, then I think that the Swedish Illusion Labs AB have an app that will have you switchstancing down memory lane.
