Matt here, your newest TouchMyApps writer. For my first review (of which there will be many!), I’m reviewing Toy Bot Diaries 3. Having not played Toy Bot Diaries 1 & 2, the series is new to me. If Toy Bot Diaries is new to you, here’s a little back story. In the first Toy Bot Diaries, there is a strange machine which plagues Toy Bot. In Entry 2, Toy Bot climbs out of the sewers and into the skies! In Entry 3, Toy Bot has gone outer space; it’s the next frontier for our little metal friend. He’s off to rescue King Bot from the clutches of the evil War Bot who is bent on destroying the earth!
Square Enix, best known for their role playing titles in Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, have jumped on the iPhone Tower Defense bandwagon and released a Defense title of their own. Crystal Defenders is unique in that rather than building defensive tower structures around a map, you deploy jobs found in the popular Final Fantasy Tactics A2 game(Nintendo DS). Available classes include Dragoons, Black Mages, Theives, Berserkers and plenty more to choose from. Fans of the Tactics series and any defense game may want to give this a go. Now available at the App Store for $7.99. A Lite version is also available for players to test out the first 20 waves from one of four beginners’ maps.
More screen shots after the jump.
Take a look at the above list. Are you reminded of those heady days of teenage rebellion? Do you look fondly on cursing, spitting, bleeding from falls, running from the fuzz and beating up roller bladers? If so, then I think that the Swedish Illusion Labs AB have an app that will have you switchstancing down memory lane.
Christmas has arrived early for iPhone gamers. Two of the most talked about and eagerly awaited games for the iPhone are now both available. Yesterday, it was SimCity that made the rounds. Today, we have Rolando hitting the App Store and not a moment too soon. Having spent sometime testing it out, I can say that it is indeed a wonderfully executed title. It has responsive and easy to use controls, well designed levels that offer plenty of engaging obstacles, eye candy visuals, a catchy sound track and did I mention fun? Yes, very fun! You will begin to realize the creativity and high level of production that went into Roland even after just several minutes into the game. The early App Store reviews have been very positive and Rolando certainly deserves no less.
Update: Our 7 Cities TD review is now up.
Neptune Entertainment has released their first game at the App Store, a pirate themed Tower Defense game called 7 Citites TD. Unlike many other defense games, 7 cities TD has hand drawn maps as well as a unique take on how the tower systems work. Each tower gains experience and level up depending on how many enemy kills they have. They also acquire new skills that will make them more effective as they level up. Based on what I have seen thus far, 7 Cities is indeed a solid and promising game with a variety of gameplay options. Tower Defense fans should definitely check this title out. Below are some tutorial screenshots.
SimCity, one of the most anticipated titles for the iPhone has finally been released by EA today. All SimCity fans should rejoice as this iPhone remake is not some hosed down version of the game. Give EA credit for ensuring that all features we have come to love and expect from a SimCity title are included. I have had a chance to play the game for a bit (went through the tutorials and then some) and I must say that it is rather impressive. There were no noticeable slow downs and it runs surprisingly smoothe. Lots of building structures to choose from and all the view options (pollution, underground, traffic, land value) we are used to are here too. Definitely a must have title for fans of the series.
Perhaps you are one of those at the office who pretends to be working hard on those TPS reports, but are in actual fact playing an online word game when the boss isn’t watching. Or you’re at home, bored out of your mind and getting your quick word fix on the interweb. No matter the scenario, if you have spent anytime playing Word Games on the net, there is a very good chance you have come across Chicktionary, a very popular title developed by blockdot. Well, anagram and word fans can now rejoice as Chicktionary has been be released for the iPhone.
Strategery is a rather unique take on turn-based strategy games like Risk, one where Global Domination is the goal of the game. To be more precise though, it is essentially an iPhone version of the very popular Online game, Dice Wars. While far from perfect, Strategery is a fast paced game where matches can be finished few minutes at a time and can be quite addictive.
ngmoco:) has quickly become a developer many are keeping a close eye on for the iPhone. While they may not have released a bundle of games thus far, the ones that ngmoco have are both fun and unique in their own way (Topple, Dr. Awesome). With the recent release of Dropship, ngmoco has outdone themselves this time and quite possibly have put together the ultimate Arcade game that is as addictive as it is impressive.
TapJoy have entered what is fast becoming a staple diet in the App Store: Tower Defense games. TapDefense is contending with the likes of the stolid Fieldrunners and the newer genre oriented, Zombie Attack!; but unlike its competitors, is free. Â
