A little over a week ago, I wrote a review on one of the two Big Two type games. As a matter of comparison, I thought it incumbent on me to check out the other one. This card game has been a source of enjoyment for me throughout the various milestones in my life. So, to be able to play it on one of my all-time favorite mobile platforms (iTouch) in all its versions and renditions was and is a must.
Playing the various tangram games offered in the AppStore became second nature to me. I would breeze by puzzle after puzzle, sometimes taking less than a minute for each one. I thought it was al child’s play. Then, I found this game, and I have to admit that Zentomino has humbled me.
Biplane: Wings of Raccoon straddles the line between cute and… not so cute. The name evokes a cross between a Red Baron type game with some sort of Crash Bandicoot theme. In spite of this, Biplane is an interesting enough offer that warrants a closer examination.
If you are of more sober mind and thought, you realize that while it is an amazing system that has pushed the limits of mobile devices, there is still much to be desired. Things such as cut-and-paste and the lack of flash animation while browsing are things that need to be addressed. One other issue is the inability to download files from your safari browser. This is where SaveMyDocs comes in.
Big 2, Thirteen, Cho Dai Dee, Chinese Poker (mistakenly), Big Deuce… there are so many names for one game, and what a game it is. If you’ve never played this game before, I do suggest gathering three friends, going online, finding the rules, and playing this bad boy. It’s just that good. For those who don’t have the fortune of company, there is Big Deuce by MotionObj.
GL Golf is like the first version of the hummer. It is boxy, obtrusive, and downright ugly. But like the car, it is one heck of a ride. Seriously, if you are like me and hate watching and playing golf in real life but thrill at the chance of virtually driving 300 yards off the tee, then this is your best bet (as of yet) on your iDevice.
RPGs have alway been a staple of the gaming environment. From the Final Fantasies and Dragon Quests to games such as Betrayal at Krondor and the newer Fable. These have helped in the satiation of the hack-n-slash, monster killing, hero building desires that permeate all virile men. The AppStore’s RPG library, while meager, is starting to fill out in the genre’s various forms. Dungeon & Hero, to this extent, stands as one of the few Diablo-esque games developers have yet to offer. Despite this link to the legendary game, Dungeon & Hero’s qualities does give it its own taste and flavor.
From the days long gone, when Tom Cruise felt the need for speed, got involved in some risky business, and was counted among a few good men comes the racer based off the movie Days of Thunder. Despite the source material, which does not need to be seen to understand the story or mechanics of the game, Days of Thunder (the App) stands strong as the first stock car racer the AppStore has to offer.
It seems like vector-esque graphics are the new vogue. With the rise in popularity of games such as Vector Tanks and Blue Attack!, it was only a matter of time before developers brought this visual style to the arena of Tower Defense (aka) TD games. This seems a no brainer given the fact that one of the better Flash TD games out there is Vector TD, a TD game that is done in vector graphics. Yet, despite the fact that the TD genre has a growing number of entries and that vector graphics may one day be passe, geoDefense does make a strong case in justifying its presence in your iDevice and within the TD genre in general.
I am a man of many moods. This is why I love the AppStore. I can find Apps that fit my current state of mind. One mood that has been seeing much rotation in my life is that of quietness. As I get older, I tend to find time to draw myself away from the fast paced, extreme themed, action oriented options that are out there and seek for simplicity and solitude. Wooden Labyrinth 3D goes a long way in enhancing those peaceful times.
