Diner Dash – Grilling Green in Review: Fun For A Cause
Time management (TM) games are synonymous with the PC Dash series – fun, well-crafted and highly polished casual games that serve as a great introduction to the genre. Many of us have followed Flo’s footsteps in her quest to serve gastronomic delights the fastest and most efficient ways she can. Dash games have set the standard of what a good TM game should be. In fact, one of my all-time favorite games for the iPhone/iPod Touch is Cooking Dash, which, in my opinion is better than the original.
Hollywood Hospital in Review – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Just going by the name, Hollywood Hospital stirs up our morbid fascination with movie stars – one can’t help but wonder, what goes on in the ER when a big movie star walks in, needing help? Could it be a botched nose job or worse, a scandal-worthy accident, requiring the utmost discretion?
The Twiggles in Review – Melting Your Hardened Gamers’ Heart
When I was requested to review The Twiggles, the sight of the hapless, furry blue creatures needing help to find their way home instantly warmed my heart. Touted to be the closest iPhone counterpart to early PC classic Lemmings, Twiggles is a puzzle-based platformer that pits both your logic and creativity against a variety of tricky and sticky situations.

The Price Is Right 2010 in Review – Not Quite An Easy Sell
I have hazy memories of The Price Is Right – I was but a wee child of seven or eight when this show was all the rage. It wasn’t that easy to relate to – compared to other popular game shows, TPIR is very specific when it comes to its audience. A kid growing up in the Philippines would have no idea how much an item or a showcase ought to cost, and before globalization kicked in, most of the brands and items on display were unfamiliar and “imported.” My jaw dropped at the gorgeous and creatively presented showcase items and the creativity the producers put in to make each Showcase Showdown unique.
Crazy Penguin Party in Review – Don’t Leave Home Without It!

One of the reasons I wanted an iPod Touch was because I got to play this adorable little game on my brother-in-law’s iPhone – you shoot penguins out of a catapult and try to hit as many polar bears as you can. I love polar bears in general, and in this game these bears were delightfully big, burly and totally huggable. That game, Crazy Penguin Catapult, was one of the first ones I bought as soon as I had my own iPod Touch.
Crazy Penguin Party will be instantly familiar to anyone who has ever tried Crazy Penguin Catapult. You have the same hardy penguins going head to head with pot-bellied polar bears – only this time, there’s a lot more going on. Feel free to discuss this review of Crazy Penguin Party in our forums.
Thumpies in Review – Likably Offbeat
The name “Thumpies” evokes cotton candy clouds and fluffy balls of fun. When I was asked to review it, I imagined a procession of cute little creatures (bunnies, emoticons, you name it) drenched in the colours of the rainbow, and musical notes floating around them. When I finally got my hands on Thumpies, however, what caught my attention is the opening hysterical little laugh that you’ll hear all through out the game. It’s the kind of insane little laugh that burrows itself in the back of your head, and worse, invade your nightmares. That’s not all, though: the Thumpies I had in mind were not the creepy little bouncing heads that look like they were part of a head hunter’s collection. Feel free to discuss this review of Thumpies in our forums.
Bookworm in Review: Casual Gaming Classic
Ask me about word puzzle games for the PC/Mac and I would have to point to Bookworm as the definitive game for the genre. Taking its cue from a popular expression for a book lover, the custodian of the library, Lex the Bookwarm is an adorable cartoony worm with spectacles, keeping watch over a crazy assortment of tiled letters that must be formed into words to keep Lex happy. Feel free to discuss this review of Bookworm in our forums.
Plants vs Zombies in Review: Taking Over Lives, Once Again
Fans and newcomers to the hugely popular PC/Mac game Plants vs Zombies have been waiting for the iPhone and iPod Touch version as early as August 2009. The long wait is over, at last. Now the question is: how well does Plants vs Zombies fare both as a PC/Mac port and a standalone tower defense game, given that the TD genre is one of the, if not the most crowded and well-represented genre on the iPhone platform?
Assassins Creed II: Discovery in Review: Taking It to A Whole New Level of Gaming
The world of assassins is incredibly mysterious and exciting. Assassins lurk in the shadows, living in the margins of society, and they have important missions to carry out. To this day, the exploits of hired killers regardless of time and place continue to excite the popular imagination.
The Assassin’s Creed series is a highly popular console game that allows each of us to play the exciting role of an assassin, within the safety of our handheld gaming device. In Assassin’s Creed II Discovery you follow the continuing adventures of Ezio as he strives to free his fellow assassins from the terrors of the Inquisition, which leads to an unexpected discovery of another Templar plot to sail to the New World.
Spore Creatures in Review: One Big Step for Sporekind
Spore Creatures is the highly anticipated sequel to Spore Origins, and rides high on expectations that this version will be as good as, if not superior to its predecessor. Those familiar with the original are in for a pleasant surprise – Spore Creatures offers a different kind of experience. While Spore Origins is mainly about survival and evolution, Spore Creatures focuses on exploration, puzzle-solving, quests and interaction with other creatures and both friendly and hostile engagement with each. Aptly called an ‘evolutionary adventure’, Spore Creatures focuses on evolution but gives it a variety of twists on the otherwise familiar gameplay – incorporating other game elements into a unique storyline.
