The JBnator Diaries – Jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch with iOS 4.3.1/4.3.2 via redsn0w [Tutorial]
The war is on! Thanks to the relentless efforts of the Dev-Team, along with the help of ion1c, an independent security expert, the jailbreaking tools for iOS 4.3.1 was recently released. And in our guide today I’m going to help you set free your iPhone 3GS/4, iPod Touch 3G (except 8Gb)/4G and iPad.
Please note, iPad 2 is not supported! Also, I won’t be going into the details of creating custom firmware (for those upgrading a locked phone that need to preserve the old baseband).
So, if you’re looking for a straight-up jailbreak, let’s dive in!
City of Secrets in Review – Comrade Moles and Commandante Rex reporting for duty
Every so often, a top-notch title springs up out of the blue. Late 2009 one such game was Call of Duty: Zombies (TMA Review); in 2010 we had a number of surprise releases, and now in 2011, that distinction belongs to City of Secrets. This superb adventure game featuring the famous duo – Rex and Moles the Mole – has been waltzing across European TV shows for years and recently picked the iOS as their foothold for global stardom.
iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is out – What a snowy spring day…
Everyone including the rumoured Apple spy in the Dev-Team has has played the April Fool. On April 1st, the news that an untethered jailbreak was out for all A4 devices, shook the internet. Naturally, i0n1c was having a laugh when he tweeted a link to a supposed archive containing the long sought-for JB package. The catch? A 30-symbol pass code that inquiring minds had to break.
However, there was a piece of truth to that joke as well. Confirmed by MuscleNerd, i0n1c has meanwhile turned over a true exploit in iOS 4.3.1 to the Dev-Team who have just integrated it into the existing Pwn tool set that can set your A4 Jesus device free!
Tactical Soldier – Undead Rising in Review – Old story, new genre and…braaaains!
The world is sometimes a very strange place. Not long ago, I remarked in my review of Hunters: Episode One (TMA Review) that the App Store was suspiciously devoid of Tactical Strategy Games. And in the space of a few weeks I’m writing another review of such a game: Tactical Soldier – Undead Rising. Born out of a strange marriage of classic top-down party RPGs and Strategy Games, this unique genre for the true masters of tactical planning has long been a favourite of PC gamers around the world. Being excellently suited for iDevice portable gaming, I’m glad that it is gaining traction on the platform.
KillingZone Defense in Review – No plants, lots of zombies, ammo required…
About a year ago, Plants vs. Zombies (TMA Review) made its way onto the App Store with much fanfare and it was highly acclaimed across the board by both critics and the general public. With its mind-boggling success, it was only a matter of time that look-alikes would popup. If anything, I’m a bit surprised that it took as long as it did. Nevertheless, regardless of how KillingZone Defense may resemble PopCap’s famous twist on the tower defense genre at first glance, it turns out to be a rather different game altogether.
The Witcher: Versus in Review – Man VS Woman VS Bug, what could be more fun?
The Witcher is a very well-known (at least here in Russia) series of fantasy books that have only recently begun to enjoy world-wide fame thanks to the top notch Action RPG released on the PC a few years back. The iDevice version, however, is not quite connected to the superb PC release. In fact, it’s not connected to it at all. What is it then you ask? Well, it turns out The Witcher: Versus is a port of a browser-based dueling game.

With those huge data caps in the US, it’s often easy to forget that users in other countries are often stuck with a measly allowance of 200 MB per month. And that for roughly $30 – not too shabby for the carriers eh? With such a plan, it’s vitally important not to go over the limit, as the surcharges can cost you an arm and/or leg. Tapper World Tour in Review – Serving booze can be almost as fun as drinking…
The moment I heard that Tapper World Tour was coming to the iOS, I was flooded with fond memories of my early days. And by “early” I do mean – about 3-4 years old. My dad built our first computer (I think it was some kind of Soviet Amiga clone or something) literally from scratch and I was lucky to be introduced to the IT world at such a young age. All of that is water under the bridge now, of course, but Tapper was one of the first games I laid my little hands on all those years ago. You can just imagine how the modern reboot of this famous franchise makes me feel…
Pirate Mysteries in Review – Argh, a pirate I will find!
I remember back in the good old days when home computers were still a long way away from being the preferred past time of younglings, we entertained ourselves with various “hardware” games. And among these were the popular “Where’s Waldo” style exercises, printed in just about any kid’s magazine you could think of. If you’re by any chance not familiar with those, the goal was simple – Find Waldo (a skinny guy in a funny striped shirt and hat) on a picture. Just 20 years and some clever devs have taken the concept to a whole new level with the range of Hidden Object games, recently joined by Pirate Mysteries.
Hunters: Episode One in Review – Jagged Alliance has gone spacewalking on the iOS
For the longest time, I’ve waited for a good squad-based tactical game on the iDevice. We’ve seen an assortment of tactical strategy titles but all are centered more on strategy than true squad-based tactical gameplay. Until now that is. Out of the blue, Rode Games has released a freemium spin on the genre – Hunters: Episode One – probably the first game that truly takes all of us X-Com and Jagged Alliance fans for a spin.
